How do I put smilies on my signature?

The thing next to where I write my signature says smilies are on, but I can't figure out how to put them on.

Put in a :) or :twisted: or whatever and it should work.

You have to type the code in.

Like.... :D = : D (( Minus the space ))
and :shock: = : shock : (( again, Minus the spaces. ))


And My favorite....

:roll: == : roll :
