______________________
Foreword: "What do I need to know?"
First things first: If you are reading this and are under the age of 18, please read 2.01 immediately.
Section 1 is for questions that apply to furry, and not necessarily the forum. If you are new to furry, reading most if not all of this section would probably be a good idea. If you're an experienced furry, though, you can pretty much not bother with it. 1.05 and 1.07 are common questions, though, so look here first if you're thinking of asking anything of the sort.
Section 2 is for questions that apply to our forum here, but not just forums in general. It is highly recommended that everyone at this forum read at least 2.00, 2.01, 2.04, and 2.05.
If you plan to have nothing to do with the sexual aspects of the furry fandom, then you can essentially skip section 3, although you may wish to read through some parts of it solely for the sake of understanding. Keep in mind this is an adult forum, so by being here you are bound to encounter adult content.
Section 4 is for questions that apply to forums in general. If you have a question about posting, how to do something or anything of the sort, check if the answer is here first! Reading 4.07 is a good idea, though.
Section 5 is simply there for your reference, if you have any interest in the kinds of links offered.
The most important thing to remember is that this FAQ is here for your reference. If you ever have a question you are considering starting a new thread for, check to see if it is answered here first (and if not, try using search (http://furrytofurry.com/furry/search.php))! If you have a question that isn't here, but you think should be, then by all means suggest it to me. Go ahead and PM me or any staff at any time if you have any suggestions, criticisms, or even questions, and we'll get right back to you! If you have a question that isn't here you can ask me, and I may well end up adding it to the FAQ after I give you an answer.
And now, on with it.
1. General Questions
1.00 - What is furry?
Good question. The furry fandom is composed of people who have an interest in anthropomorphic creatures, not even necessarily ones with fur. This interest can be in visual art, stories, roleplaying, etc... and is not very well defined. Generally, you're a furry if you want to be a furry, and if you share these interests.
A "furry" is also the term for any of the above-mentioned anthropomorphic creatures. Everyone seems to have their own definition of what these characters and the fandom in general are to them. Some people feel they have a spiritual connection to animals or their "fursona" (section 1.02), sometimes to the extent of believing they ARE one all but physically. Others simply appreciate the artwork. Some people think of furry as a sexual fetish, where some want nothing to do with the sexual side of the fandom. Some people simply enjoy the roleplaying and furry literature. Some people wear and/or create "fursuits" (section 1.03), for various reasons. Overall, how you fit into furry is up to you. There is no need to worry that you don't "qualify", or that you don't fit in if you don't like a particular aspect.
If you want more explanation about the basics of the furry fandom, try looking up "furry" on either Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org)or Wikifur (http://wikifur.com/).
1.01 - What are all these words I keep hearing (general)?
On F2F, you may encounter people using words that you have never seen before. Below are some of the more common ones. Note that there is a separate section for more adult-rated terms.
Anthro: Short for"anthropomorphic". This is the technical term for any non-human being that has human characteristics, eg/ a wolf that walks upright.
Babyfur: People that roleplay as and/or act like furry infants, sometimes involving yiff and sometimes not. Wikifur has a good Babyfur Article (http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Babyfur).
"con": con is short for "convention." There are many conventions throughout the year, where furry fans gather to do things buy and sell artwork, attend workshops, show off costumes, or just socialize. You can find a list of furry cons here (http://furrytofurry.com/furry/showthread.php?t=43434)!
Furpile: Basically, a situation where a large number of furries crowd together (crowd meaning pressed together in a tight group), or actually physically pile up on each other. This term can be used both for "furries" as in people (this sometimes happens at conventions or other such gatherings), or "furries" as in furry characters.
Furry: Either an anthropomorphic creature, or a member of the furry fandom. The term can be used for both.
Fursuit: is a full-body animal mascot costume worn by a furry fan. Some furry fans make their own fursuits, while others have them commissioned. Fursuits can be quite elaborate and are usually shown off at convention masquerades.
MUCK: stands for Multi User Character Kingdom. It's like an multiplayer online game, though the focus tends to be more toward roleplaying or socializing. MUCKs are popular online hangouts for furry fans.
Murr: A sound made by practically any furry creature, usually as a substitute for purring in non-feline species.
Otherkin/Spirit Furs: Not solely a furry term, an otherkin is a person who believes they have the spirit of an animal. While some of you may find this idea absurd, we remind you attacking others for their beliefs is not acceptable, so please be civil in your disagreement.
Troll: Not furry-specific. A troll is someone who comes to a message board such as F2F to spam it with pointless or insulting posts.
If you encounter a word you don't know that you can't find a definition for, you can always PM the person who used it and ask, do a search online for a definition, or maybe even use a dictionary if it doesn't seem to be a furry-specific term. Please don't start threads asking what a certain word means.
1.02 - What's a "fursona", and how do I get one?
A fursona is a furry character that you create. What it is exactly varies from person to person. Some people believe they share a deep, spiritual connection with their fursona, possibly as the animal part of themselves. Others simply use a fursona for a roleplaying or "yiffing" (section 3.01) avatar. Having one, even a loosely defined one is not necessary to being furry, but most in the fandom do have one of some sort. Some people have more than one. Essentially, you can have as many as you want, and you can make them look like and do whatever you want. Mixing species is acceptable, (eg/ a "folf" is a fox/wolf cross). You can even use species that are not real (eg/ dragons, Pokemon) if you really want to, and you are free to give them unique features in any way you like (eg/ different coloured eyes, tattoos). Some people choose to give their fursonas supernatural powers, but using this should be a matter of common senese: Do not use magical powers in a roleplay that forbids them, and so on, even if your fursona normally has them.
You can create your fursona in your mind, if you wish to have one, and that is all. No paperwork, no explanations necessary.
1.03 - What's a "fursuit", and how do I get one?
A fursuit is generally a costume made with the appearance of a furry creature. Fursuits can come as a full body suit, or in pieces such as only a head, tail, paws, etc.... There are many individuals and organizations that make these suits, but you can also create your own with the right materials and instructions. There is a section on F2F for discussion of fursuits, the "Fursuit Forum (http://furrytofurry.com/furry/forumdisplay.php?f=186)", and many of your specific questions on the subject can be answered there.
1.04 - What are these "cons"?
A furry convention, or "con", is a large gathering of furry fans held every now and then. There are many different ones in different countries, some notable ones being Anthrocon (http://www.anthrocon.org/), Midwest Furfest (http://www.furfest.org/), and Further Confusion (http://www.furtherconfusion.org/). Among other places, you can find a list of more (http://www.google.com/alpha/Top/Society/People/Furry/Conventions/) from Google. Rules, dates, and such are all arranged individually by each different convention, so for any further information it would be useful to search for one near you, and learn from their website. F2F also has a section for discussion of conventions, "Convention Calendar and Chat".
1.05 - Should I "come out"?
"Coming out" about being furry (or anything for that matter), is a decision that is completely up to you. Keep in mind that the fandom is in general regarded as strange, and so knowledge of your involvement may not be received well by some people. The majority of opinions on this that have been expressed on the forum previously agree that "coming out" is usually unnecessary and often causes more problems than it's worth.
In general, only you know your friends and family. If you believe they will receive news of this well and you truly do wish them to know, then go ahead and tell them. The choice is completely yours, but it would be a good idea to take some time to think your decision over before actually following through. Remember, you can keep a secret, but once people know something you can't make them forget it.
Note that this advice can also apply to coming out about being gay, lesbian, bisexual, and so on. Questions of whether or not one should "come out" in any of these situations has been discussed many times before, so unless yours is a unique situation, please do not post a new thread on the subject.
1.06 - What is a MUCK / MUD / etc...?
[The following is quoted with permission from Velina]
MUCK stands for "Multi User Chat Kingdom". They are the 'offspring' of an older type of text based online game called a MUD, or a multi user dungeon. A MUD is hack-and-slash based, with coding to support the system, much like an MMORPG without the pretty pictures. From MUDs came MUSHes. MUSH stands for multi user shared hallucination, and its focus was more roleplay based, with very little if any hack-and-slash. In a MUSH, you could also extend the world, thus 'share the hallucination' further by creating your own 'rooms' on the world. From there you go to MUCKs, which have roleplay but are more chat oriented. You also have MOOs, which are more for teleconferencing (like via tel-net).
You can visit the wiki for MUDs at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MUD and for MUSH at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MUSH.
Furcadia is probably more like a MUD, though Wiki says it is a "MMOSG" or massively multiplayer online social game. It is based on a graphical MUD project. Furc's wiki is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furcadia.
I have noticed a sharp decline in the attendance of many of my favorite MU*s, including one that I helped as a wizard. That one eventually closed, for many reasons, and the few others I still frequent are rather slow.
There are two very popular and old furry mushes, FurryMUCK and TapestriesMUCK. http://www.furry.com/ and http://www.fur.com/tapestries/ respectively.
Now, as for software, for MU*s, there really is no software involved. It is all open source, and requires nothing more to connect than simple tel-net. However, I do not recommend that. There is a free and easy to use program called SimpleMU that you can find at http://simplemu.onlineroleplay.com/ that I highly recommend. It takes a little figuring out at first, but afterwards, it's pretty easy to connect every time. Most MU*ers will use this program, though there are a few others out there I'm sure. Finding games is a bit harder, as you often have to look up "MUSH" or "MUCK" or "MU*" to find listings, or google by topic, such as "Tolkien MUSH" (which by they way, there IS a Tolkien MUSH called ElendorMUSH at http://www.elendor.net/, and it is the oldest Tolkien mush out there!).
1.07 - How can I find furries near me?
There are a few ways. First off, on F2F, you can always post a thread (provided there isn't already one) for furs in your area in the "personals" section. Also, you can watch people's "Location" in their profile, and if you see someone in your general area you can try PMing them.
There are other websites that might be useful. For a more visual representation, there is a good map of many of the active furries on F2F HERE! (http://furrytofurry.com/furry/showthread.php?t=67295)has a furries map. Pounced.org (http://pounced.org) is another good place to start. Another site is FurFinder[/url ]. You can try searching for other websites for where you live, otherwise.
1.08 - Is furry connected to bestiality?
NO. The furry fandom is completely separate from bestiality and zoophilia. The majority of the members of the furry fandom frown upon bestiality, as it is illegal in most places, but discussion of it is not prohibited. If you support it and discuss your opinions, be prepared for strong opposition. However, if you are harassed for your own beliefs in an aggressive, offensive manner, and the offender will not cease at your request, this behavior can be at your discretion reported to one of the moderators. Once again, use common sense. If you support bestiality or zoophilia openly. Also there is a difference between Bestiality and Zoophilia. Research onto this can be done within Wikipedia.
1.09 - Is furry illegal?
Nope. Some may believe it is on the mistaken assumption that furry is related to, or the same thing as, bestiality and zoophilia.

Thanks for reading!
~F2F Mod & Admin Staff
If you just have a question you need an answer to, you can ask anyone listed above!, provided it's not one that's in the FAQ already.
[U]2.01 - Do I REALLY have to be 18+ to be here?
YES. While the warning may appear to some to be an unimportant legal disclaimer, it is there for a good reason. Being on F2F under the age of 18 can have SERIOUS legal consequences, not only for yourself but for your parents and for the administration of the forum. On top of that, these legal consequences could result in your entire internet history being revealed, making known to your family and the authorities every website you have visited, possibly compounding your problems further.
The people responsible for the forum could actually be sent to jail because of just one underage member being here. If you are reading this and are under the age of 18, all of us at F2F beg you to please reconsider attempting to hide your age and use the forum. You can leave quietly now, and you will be welcomed back warmly when you can legally be here.
In the meantime, there are other furry forums that are not age-restricted that you could spend your time at, like Furtopia (http://furtopia.org/).
2.02 - Do I REALLY have to be furry to be here?
Not really. Non-furries are generally welcomed on the board. So long as your purpose is not to attack the furry fandom, your input would be just as appreciated.
2.03 - I'm being harassed! What do I do?
If you truly are being harassed by another board member, on the board (what happens outside it is your business, to an extent. If you know the person harassing you is a board member, the moderators might be able to help), then you can report them to a moderator. Please do not abuse this, and go accusing people of harassment for every little thing. If someone calls you an idiot, that is generally not cause enough for a moderator to do anything about it. If someone repeatedly calls you an idiot, without good reason and unceasingly, that is harassment. Also, if this takes place in PMs, keep the offensive PMs as evidence. People cannot be banned or reprimanded in any way without proof they have actually done anything wrong.
Note that in general, there is no "hazing" for furries or anything of the sort at F2F. If you are being pestered with offensive messages, this is not considered acceptable.
Please use your common sense, don't make more work for the mods than necessary. Remember that this is the internet, and so try not to take anything too seriously or personally.
2.04 - There's a troll on the board! What do I do!?
This can happen from time to time, someone with too much time on their hands decides to spam our message board with insults or advertisements. Most people's gut reaction to such an "attack" is to "defend" the forum and furries in general. This isn't necessary, and will not accomplish anything. If you become agitated from a troll's insults, it will only encourage them. Making the board members upset is exactly the reason why they do these things. If they are however simply spamming with advertising, just don't support or even look at what they are trying to interest you in.
If there are no moderators or administrators on the board at the moment, and you happen to have a way to contact one of them about the problem (eg/ through an IM), then do so. Remember, if they aren't already on the board, sending them a PM will not do much good. Unless, though, the "trolling" is not immediately noticeable or urgent (eg/ one spam thread in a less-populated section), in which case a PM would be a good idea to bring it to their attention.
If the moderators are there and the troll is being very blatantly noticeable with his/her posts, then rest assured the problem will likely be taken care of very quickly. If you have no way of contacting any of them, then there is nothing you can do as a member. The best course of action is to not even respond to whatever the troll says, simply ignore them. Believe it or not, it works.
2.05 - What's the deal with the "Games" forum?
The games forum is not for discussion of video games, furry games, or whatever. This forum is for games that are played on the forum, including everything from "tic-tac-toe" to "truth or dare", word games, or anything you can think of! Try not to post any games that already have a thread there.
As another interesting bit of information, in the games forum is one thread, the "Count Backwards from 1,000,000" thread, which is currently the largest thread on F2F by a long ways. Many people have speculated on how long it will actually take to count down, start to finish, and most calculations have come out around 20 years!
2.06 - How can I get my name changed?
To have your F2F username changed, simply PM a polite request for the change to be made to one of the administrators. (Reminders: Moderators are not admins, and some of the admins do not frequently visit the board. Send your request to one you see often, and have patience.)
2.07 - How do I become a moderator?
Simple, you sit and wait for an offer. You do not apply to become a moderator at F2F, you will be asked to be one if you are needed. The current administration watches the members over time in their posts, and if moderators are needed a suitable candidate will be selected from any one of the members, at the discretion of the admins. Do not ask to be moderator, it will likely only lower your chances of becoming one.
All you can do is be mature, responsible and helpful. Luck will determine the rest.
2.08 - How do I get a custom title?
Some members at F2F, such as the moderators, have titles under their names, above their avatars. To get one of these titles, you have to be given one, for any of many reasons, by the admins.
Sometime members will be given a title by a admin simply as a joke, as payment for a favor, or for any reason they wish, essentially.
3. Yiffy Questions
3.00 - What are all these words I keep hearing (yiffy)?
Below are some of the more common yiffy terms. Note that there is a separate section for non-adult terms. Yiff itself is covered in the next section.
BDSM: Not furry specific. BDSM is a three-part acronym for an interrelated group of fetishes: BD for Bondage and Discipline, DS for Dominance and Submission, and SM for Sadism and Masochism. Most of these terms should be self explanatory.
Hyper: A term sometimes used to describe a particular subset of macrophilia, involving just exrtordinarily large genitalia.
Knot: Traditionally within canine breeds, upon orgasm the base or knot of the male's penis will flair and lock the lovers together from it's expansion at orgasm.
Macro/Micro: Simply, furry characters that are significantly larger or smaller than usual, or than each other. "Significantly" means pretty much far more different in size than could be naturally expected. Macros are often the size of tall buildings, if not more. There are no real limits.
Pawing (off): Sometimes you will hear people refer to "pawing". This is short for "pawing off" which was essentially created as a pleasant euphemism for "jacking off", or other such slang. Essentially, masturbation.
Spooge: Exact synonym for 'cum', both as a verb and a noun. It is also occasionally used a bit differently than just 'spooge', to things like 'splooge' (that usually being the verb) and just 'spoo' (that usually being the noun).
Tailhole: Another furry euphemism, for "asshole", though in the literal sense of the actual physical part rather than as the insult.
Tentacles: Pretty much what it sounds like; A particular, not-solely-furry fetish involving "tentacles", usually taking advantage of a helpless furry/human in a sexual way. There are many different forms of this.
Unbirthing: Unbirthing is a peculiar fetish involving one character being, essentially, "unborn" by being taken back into the vagina.
Vore: Vore is a particular fetish involving, basically, one character eating another. There are different kinds of vore; soft vore, also known as endosomatophilia, is the act of one character swallowing another whole, often leaving the one consumed alive, if only temporarily. Then there are more realistic kinds of vore, which is essentially what you would imagine it to look like when one is actually being eaten. There are also other, less "normal" sub-groups of this, such as cock vore and anal vore. The former is not the act of eating someone's cock, but vice versa, as with the latter.
If you encounter a word you don't know that you can't find a definition for, you can always PM the person who used it and ask, do a search online for a definition, or maybe even use a dictionary if it doesn't seem to be a furry-specific term. Please don't start threads asking what a certain word means.
3.01 - What is "yiff"?
Yiff is a very confusing word for most people new to furry, not only because it is particular to the fandom, but also since it can be used in a variety of ways. Overall the word has sexual connotations, but more specific uses might be as follows.
"Yiff" as a noun may refer to any form of artwork involving furry characters in sexual situations. This may also include stories, in some cases. (eg/ "I was looking at some yiff"). These can also be described as "Yiffy" art/stories. "A yiff", however, usually refers to a sexual roleplay as described later. On rare occasion, "a yiff" can also refer to a furry that yiffs.
"Yiffy" can mean containing sexual content, (eg/ "I was reading a yiffy story"), but can also be used as a direct substitute for the word "horny". (eg/ "I'm yiffy!")
"Yiffing" is usually the act of roleplaying such sexual situations, involving furry characters, with other people (eg/ "I was yiffing Rrruff last night"). This is fairly common in the furry fandom, and can take place through Instant Messengers or the "Yiffy Roleplay" section in the forum. Most often, simply "yiffing" is a roleplay with minimal setting introduced, and can vary in description from a single sentence with each post to several paragraphs. Essentially, it's furry cyber-sex.
"Yiff" can also refer specifically to the sexual activity taking place, and can be used freely as a verb (eg/ "The two wolves yiffed all night long"). It is usually best to limit the use of the word yiff to furry characters, though, to prevent confusion between real life and fantasy.
With all of this, it's easy to see how some people can become confused. For example, to "get yiff" is very ambiguous. Understanding is made even more difficult when people use the verb yiff in the place of real-life sex as well. Other than the definitions provided, the best way to understand this word is to hear how it's used. A few weeks of exposure to it and you'll generally get the idea, though it always leaves some room for interpretation.
3.02 - How do I yiff?
How to yiff is something that varies greatly from person to person. Some people prefer to have IM roleplays of sexual situations with only a sentence or two of description, where others can go on for hours typing long paragraphs. Some prefer to yiff through e-mail, PMs or in the "Yiffy Roleplay" section of the board. What you do is completely up to you and the other participant(s) in the yiff. The only underlying principle is that you describe actions (eg/ *licks at your neck*)
Whether this is written in first person (eg/ *I lick your ear*) or third (eg/ *The grey wolf licks your ear*) is up to those involved, but it is fairly important to coordinate on this for ease of reading. Some do not even clearly define a person (eg/ *licks your ear*). It's also best to use the same tense (eg/ *I murr loudly* vs. *I murred loudly*. I've never seen a future tense yiff, but it could be possible). Present tense and third person seem to be the most common.
It is also usually preferable to use the same style, though this is by far less important. (Style is an arbitrarily chosen term here.) There are some people that yiff as though writing a book, they put speech in quotations and the rest just as plain text. Others put actions in asterisks *, or other symbols of their choosing (eg/ ~, ::, etc...) and leave speech unmarked. Use of different font colours for different speakers or different characters' actions can also be done, but is not recommended on the forum, as most font colours are difficult to read against the background.
How you want to describe things and what you want to focus on is completely up to you. That's what makes it fun.
In general, there are no official rules for how to yiff. If you are uncertain, you can always ask the person you are yiffing with, or simply pick up the person, tense and style from their own writing. How much description you want to include is completely up to you, but most often more is better. It might also be a good idea to find a few of good quality on the board and read through them first to get a feel for it.
3.03 - How do I get people to yiff with me?
There are many ways for those of you who have been yiff-deprived to find someone to yiff with. On a forum like F2F and in the furry fandom in general, it isn't very difficult.
The most direct method is to simply contact someone you would like to yiff, via PM or whatever medium you feel is appropriate. Be warned though, the vast majority of the people at F2F do not appreciate receiving out-of-the-blue PMs asking for yiff, so be prepared to be turned down many times if you resort to this. Please do not pester people with repeated requests for yiff; if they turn you down once, they will turn you down the second time and probably just become irritated.
The best way is to develop casual relationships with some people from the board. Find some members with common interests, have discussions with them. Be social. If one of your friends seems to be the type that would yiff, you can always ask them if they would like to, at an appropriate time. Just remember that people don't like to be used, and so you shouldn't "use" them for yiff. If all you want someone for is yiff and they aren't interested right away, it would probably be best to find someone else. If you're looking for a one-night-stand sort of deal, find someone else who is. If you're looking for a mate, or a friend, find someone else who is as well. Asking just for yiff from someone who wants a relationship is not a good idea, nor vice-versa. Just like in real life. Most often, if you have a good relationship with a person who does yiff occasionally, you will be presented an opportunity sooner or later.
When you already know someone, and you're too shy to ask directly, there are ways to hint at it, or indirectly work up to it. Sometimes in a conversation you can add in little actions to what you say (eg/ "Man, I'm tired *leans against you and murrs*"). Judging by how the other person responds, you can get an idea of it they would be interested or not. See if they respond with a positive action (eg/ nuzzling, licking, etc...). If they respond in kind, you can just try to gradually work up to yiff. If they don't want to yiff, they will let you know either directly or through their actions.
Another way that is both polite and often effective is to start a thread in the "Yiffy Roleplay" section of the board, possibly including in the title "(Open to all)", or "(Males wanted)" or whatever you wish. Chances are good someone will join, although this way who you end up yiffing is quite random. It also may be a good idea to state in the opening post that you want the RP for yiff, not a long and detailed storyline, if that is what you want, though by how you introduce the thread this is usually apparent.
Also, you can advertise your wish for a yiff partner in the "Personals" section, if you are looking for something more than a single yiff with someone. Just say what you're looking for, and see if anyone answers.
In general, keep in mind that yiffing requires another person, and people cannot be forced into it. If someone does not want to yiff you, that is their choice and you cannot hold them responsible. Patience is important.
3.04 - What's a knot? (and other yiffy anatomy questions)
The knot is a particular feature of actual canine species during sexual activity. Male canines have a knot on their penis, which only swells up during sexual arousal, into a large ball. If this swelling occurs inside the vagina or the "tailhole" of another, it can become lodged inside, leaving the two parties "tied". The size, shape and position of this knot varies with species, breeds and to a lesser extent with individuals.
Some feline species also have a distinguishing feature, having "barbs" on their penis. These make pulling the shaft out more difficult and painful for the one being penetrated, and helps in nature to keep the female of the species from "escaping" the male when mounted.
These features are both commonly seen in yiffy roleplays involving the species naturally endowed with them. Some, though, choose not to give their fursona these attributes. Knots are more common as they can serve to make yiffs interesting, providing an abnormality that can provide original opportunities. The feline barbs, as they are usually painful, are generally seen less often.
The details on the anatomy of each of these can be found fairly easily through internet searches, often including images.
4. Technical/Forum Questions
4.00 - How do I post images?
If the image is within the size outlined by the rules for embedded images, you may use the code [img*]Link Here[/img*] (remove the *!) to embed the picture in your post. Also you can attach files using the attachment options at bottom of your post menu. Just remember upload amounts are limited.
4.01 - How do I post links so that they're just words you click on?
To post a link so that it appears as text of your choice, use the code [*url=http://yourlinkhere.com]Text Here[/url*] (remove the *)
4.02 - How do I edit a post?
To edit a post, simply click the edit button in the upper right corner of your post, and change it to whatever you wish. You may get an error saying you cannot make another post so soon after your last; if this is the case, simply wait about a minute and try again. Only active members can edit their posts.
4.03 - How do I delete a post?
You cannot delete your post. Either edit it to blank it out, or pm a Senior Mod or Admin (with good reason) and we'll get onto it.
4.04 - How do I quote someone so it says "So-and-so wrote:"?
If you use the ordinary quote code, simply [.quote] and [./quote] (without the periods), it will post your quote in a box labeled simply, "Quote:" If you use on the first tag instead, [.quote="Name"] (again, no period), you will get "Name wrote:" over your quote box.
4.05 - Where did my post go?
If your post within a thread cannot be found (a recent post, threads several months old may be trimmed from the board periodically), it may have possibly been deleted, or perhaps lost due to some bizarre error. Most often this does not happen.
If you cannot find the thread, it may have been moved and/or locked. In this case, you can find it again by checking the other forums manually, or if you have posted in the thread recently, by checking your own recent posts. To do this, click your name at the bottom of the main forum screen (it will not appear if you have your status set to hidden, you can change this in your profile), and click the "Find all posts by [your name]" link. Alternatively, you can simply search for all posts by you manually, using the search button. From here you can find the post you are looking for, and use the header at the top of it to find which forum and thread it is in.
Threads are moved frequently for being in the wrong forum. Please do your best to put a new thread in the forum appropriate for it.
4.06 - Hey, my post count just went down!
Two possibilities here. The first is that one of your posts has been deleted altogether. This can be done by the moderators or admin, though the moderators almost never actually delete a post.
Occasionally the board is "pruned" of old, dead threads. These threads are removed from the forum and usually archived, leaving only the newer or more active threads. This helps keep the board from becoming cluttered, but if you have posted in a long dead thread, that post will disappear with the thread and leave your count a few less than it was before. Post count is essentially meaningless on F2F, though, so please do not worry about this or become upset.
4.07 - Where is the search button!?
If you ask a question or post a thread about a subject that has been discussed before, many people will tell you to use the search button (http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c298/Qunor/Searchy.jpg) or to read the Answer Book (http://furrytofurry.com/furry/showthread.php?t=62124). The search box located to the top of the screen in any part of the forum, in the bar below your PM inbox. Use specific keywords in the search to find old posts and threads that might help you before posting a new thread on the subject.
4.08 - My avatar has the right dimensions, but the file's too big!
There are a few solutions to this problem. One easy way around is to host the image at an external site, such as Photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com/) and upload the link to F2F as your avatar. Another solution is to find a way to reduce the file size; there are a few ways to do this. If your image is a jpeg file and the size is significantly over the limit, the file is not compressed sufficiently. Most image editing programs can fix this, or save it by default in a more compressed format.
If all you have is MS Paint, it can usually still be done. One thing I have found usually works in MS Paint is to take the dimensionally correct avatar, open it with MS Paint, choose Save as... and give it a different file name, making sure to save it as a jpeg file. For one reason or another, this seems to result in a file approximately 3 kb in size.
If you are unable to reduce the size and are either unable to unwilling to have it hosted at a third-party site, then you can make a personal request for someone else to reduce the file for you. There are many people who are willing to do this at F2F.
5. Links
5.00 - Where do I get hot, yiffy art?
There are many places aside from F2F itself, which sometimes has members posting yiffy art in the appropriate sections (The "Yiffy Art Trading" or "Sharing Art" forums), or in the gallery (link to it is in a blue button to the top right of the forum screen). Often a good idea is to search for an artist you like to find their own webpage, just remember that some artists go under multiple pseudonyms.
Also, some places like FChan (http://fchan.us/), Yiffstar (http://www.yiffstar.com/), VCL (http://us.vclart.net/vcl/), and FurAffinity (http://www.furaffinity.net/) contain the works of many different artists. Note that for some sites like FurAffinity, you must be a registered user and be of legal age in order to view their adult rated content.
Many artists can also be commissioned for a price to draw yiff for you. Do some research on an artist you like if this is your intent, and follow their own instructions if they take commissions.
Other than that, simply use your own intuition. There are countless ways you can find this kind of art. Some furry friends of yours might even be willing to send you some.
5.01 - Where do I get hot, yiffy stories?
These kinds of stories are scattered all around the internet, but there are a few places you can look. SoFurry (http://www.yiffstar.com/) and FurAffinity (http://www.furaffinity.net/) are two sites which contain many of these stories. F2F's own "Furry Stories, Poetry and Lyrics" board also contains a few.
5.02 - Where do I get hot, yiffy animations?
These are substantially harder to find in any good quality or quantity than furry art or stories. FChan again has some scattered across their board, and Taurin Fox (http://www.taurinfox.com/animation.html) has a few high quality yiff animations for free download. Generally, these are spread around the internet, so search for them and listen for them.
5.03 - Is there such a thing as NON-yiffy furry art?
Yes, there are actually many furry artists out there that do not draw yiff, and most artists actually do draw at least the occasional tame picture. There is also a "clean" section of FChan, Furaffinity by default showcases only clean art (unless you have an account and have opted to view yiffy material!) and the site Yerf (http://yerf.com/) contains no adult material.
5.04 - What other links might be useful?
Some other useful links would include:
Wikifur (http://www.wikifur.com/) is the furry equivalent of Wikipedia, and may help with random inquiries. Wikipedia also has some furry articles.
