I'm not getting an upload or choose from gallry/website option for avatar... justa box with the dot filled in saying that I don't want to use one... :(

You got to become an active member before you can upload a pic and that takes about 15 days or so ^^

Yeh, Exactly 15 days from the day you signed up and you will become an active member.
This allows for an avatar and proper sig.
30 Days from sign-up and you can have access to the arcade.
You can check how long you have been signed up for by clicking on your name within a thread. In the top left of your profile it will give you a date. Just so you can work out how many days left.
