Custom Titles?

I think that once we're active members, and we hit x amount of posts, we can change our titles, which are, by default, Active member. What do you think?

Good idea in theory.
I just don't want to see people flood posting in order to get it. It usually works in small forum groups.
Maybe if the number was ridiculously high ...say 2000? It might discourage them from trying that hard from the get-go. After taking that long to get that many posts one should've learned a thing or two about forum etiquette.

Eh, are you all sure that's a good idea?

Before you know it, every single person will be 'Yiffing God' or 'Yiff Crazy Wolf/Fox', or 'Yiffy Yiffer', or some such variation of the word 'yiff'.

(I never really thought about it before, but damn, that word annoys me.)

Rules can't be applied. I'm not going to have my PM box flooded with people wanting to change their user title and me having to check how they got that many posts... That's insane.

If you want to 'default' change, that could happen... That's something we'll have to talk about.

Isn't there an option to set the CT option in the CP to be available at X posts?

Yea, but I was mentionin along the lines of "Rules can be applied" statement you said. If people spam posts just to get their count high, we don't want that ... and there would be no way for us to protect vs that unless we manually checked people's posts, which would be a lot of work :)

Automatically, we could set it so the amount of posts would allow users to do different things; I mentioned that already though.

Ok, perhaps you can tie it to the rep points. Although there might be a whole "scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" PM between people who don't actually deserve them and they start just randomly handing out points to each other.

But when you think about... say there was someone spamming to get to 4000. You think at least one mod would've already noticed this person... and well before they got to 4000 they would've probably been banned for flood posting. Actually, someone who has a lot of posts under their belt, you already have a good grasp of how they conduct themself, so I don't think you'd have to research their entire posting past.

I'm less than 700 posts from 4k, so I have no reason to spam.

If one hasn't noticed, Yiffy Role-play and the gallery seem to have the most traffic, 12+ people viewing the boards at a time. I saw about 4 people already have a post count with 5 figures, which proves that good posting opportunities are available.

@_@ I mean it's easy to get mad posts quickly. The community is active, especially in the two boards I mentioned. So if you're an RPer or an artist of sorts, you'll get a lot of posts fast. The ones with 10k+ posts are RPers, or at least they were.

How about for some kind of combination of rep points and post numbers? I mean, you can't rep back somebody unless you've also reped several otehrs. And by the time that somebody becomes a big enough part of the bord to desereve a title, at least one mod should know a lot about them, or at least the general population of the thread.

As for what Kiya said, I doubt there is, but maby the decision can allso be bassed on where these posts are. I mean, 5,000 yiffy RP posts isn't the same level of invovement as 2,000 intro section posts, 1,000 off topic post, and 2,000 post in the rest of 'gernal fur'.

Personaly, I would just love the title of 'cookie otter' :strong:
