Snake was added because of a good friendship between Sakurai/Nintendo and Hideo Kojima. In fact the only reason why Snake wasn't in Melee was because he asked too late.

Sonic was added because not only were millions of people begging for him, it was also a dream to have Sonic and Mario duke it out. It's a ton gamer's dream come true to have the classic Sega vs Nintendo bout finally realized!

Capcom and Nintendo have no ties and not only this adding third party characters is a lot more work then adding one of Nintendo's flags. Not only this, Sakurai didn't want to alienate thse faithful to the franchise by taking away the concept of big named Nintendo franchises beating the crap out of each other.

So there was no good reason to add MM to the mix.

No other Sega characters are in as either characters or bosses besides Sonic and Shadow as an assist trophy and uses Chaos Control to slow down all enemies in his perimeter.

And yes all characters/bosses/assist trophies have all been completely spoiled :3

Just be thankful we got any 3rd party characters at all. The roster is looking pretty good the way it is now and damn, along with all those stages to fight on and then you can create your own, this will keep people busy for weeks :O

Personally I am a major Link fan, love the character and his abilities. Timing the arrows and bombs is wonderful for tactics. I can not wait to give it a try honestly.

I'm here to whine about how I don't own a Nintendo Wii.

I am anticipating Brawl more than I have any video game since before Oblivion came out. I have a roommate who kicks ass at Melee (and I mean on a SERIOUS level), and I'm pretty darn good myself. He owns the wii, though. Which means for the whole summer, most of this term, and who knows what afterwards, I will be Brawlless, while everybody gets way ahead of me. Then I shall be forever doomed to suck at Brawl due to several months less experience, just like happened with Melee, only on a time-scale of years.

Honestly you can go ahead and not buy this game. But please next time do it quietly or in another thread because no one here wants to here you whining about a game they want to play. This thread isn't about your problems with Brawl, it's about furs looking forward to battling other furs with the likes of Mario, Link, Samus, etc.

But if you are talking about traditional Wii controller as in Classic controller the basics for gameplay seems to be all perfect for gaming but hardcore users found the lack of customizing the D-pad as a serious disadvantage in high competitive play.

If you are talking just the wii-mote I've heard it is very tough but do-able. Just like the wii-mote and nunchaku it will take some serious getting use to. Especially since with the nunchuk being in your right hand meaning your analog controller will seem inverted.

Gotta remember, the controls are highly customizable so you can make any of them work. How good you are with them depends on you though.

Okay. So, I have a friend of mine over. He is a HUGE Smash Bros. enthusiast. He brought his Wii, and we both went out trudging through the snow this morning to get our copy of Brawl, to have fun for the day.

We got there, got in the store before it opened and picked up the reserved copy of the game. Brought it home, and put it in our Wii.

Unable to read disc error.

Take it out, put it back in several times, clean the disc, everything, no help. Look online. TONS of people across the continent are having the same problem. Same thing happened at the Japanese release, too. Nintendo knew this would happen, and they did nothing about it.

Right now, we're looking at a couple weeks at least before it would be playable, because we'd have to ship off the wii and have the lens cleaned to make it work. What pisses me off now is that if that has to happen to make it work now, it means you'd probably have to CONTINUE sending it away to be cleaned every couple months for, like, ever.

So yeah. We, as loyal fans, waited patiently through all the delays, all the crap, just for this. Indescribably pissed right now, and will NEVER forgive Nintendo.

The Jigglypuff issue makes me feel awkward. I unlocked my main man Ganondorf, so I was content after that.

I unlocked Sonic. He's so fast that you have to be careful. With his speed, you could acidently KO yourself.

On another note, I love using Pit. His wings have saved me many times from being KOed. :mrgreen:

It was annoying trying to unlock Wolf. Mainly because its a little bit of work to get to the door he is behind. It took me three tries. I lucked up and got all three pieces of Dragoon and KOed him for the win.

Spoilers:

No problem at all. After beating SSE, In the stage "Iseki" (Ruins) skip the first door you pass when being lowered in to the pit. Instead enter the second door at the bottom. After that there will be a cutscene and then you fight Wolf. You know the routine, KO him to unlock him.

-Zega-, that area is one of the early stages of SSE. But I didn't realize it was their until after I beat it. So there may be a chance you can unlock Wolf before beating SSE. I'm not too certain.

On another note, I beat Jigglypuff to unlock all the characters in the game. W00t for All Stare mode. :cool:

After I beat Classic Mode with Link, Toon Link came to attack me on his Wind Waker arena. As for Jigglypuff, I beat all the Event Matches up until 20.

Yay I finally got Wolf. All you need to do is beat boss battle mode with Fox. His howl is so sexy. I got everyone except Jigglypuff and I did beat the first 20 events. Why is she making this so hard :/

Well, I read somewhere that you should do a few Classic Mode matches with everyone but Ike. I also read about the first 20 event matches. She showed up for me after event match 20.

I finally got my chance to play Brawl. Went over to a friends place and got to play a little, and also attended an event for the game at my university here for a few minutes.

Wolf seems absolutely awesome. There are a few things that irk me about Brawl, though. My character likes to dodge-roll twice sometimes when I don't want him to, and I find myself facing the wrong way for an attack more often than I actually hit people. Aside from that, I will say that Fox has been completely and utterly stripped of his power in Brawl. He's not just slow, but sluggish, and his attacks have no real punch to them. He's a decent character, but not in any way outstanding from my experience. I think he's become Falco from Melee, without the down-spiking in-air A attack and launching reflector.

If I'm ever in a fight that isn't one-on-one, Ike is my man. He's extremely tough to land a hit with in a one-on-one fight, but in a free for all, he racks up points like freaking CRAZY. Everyone else does the damage, he gets the killing blow.

I hope I'll actually get a chance to play for more than a couple of minutes someday soon, though...

Falco has been changed a lot from melee to brawl and he was also a really high playable character. So yeah he got a nice swing with the nerf bat as well. His reflector turned into an attack with defense status rather then the other way around and his meteor spike is not as godly anymore but still there and still useful. But he overall received a ton of changes in that he's basically a new character. Try him out an see what I am talking about :p

Ike has been a fan favorite for online random matches and that is put lightly. I would be surprised at the times I play a game with Ike not there lol. That is because his KO potential is through the roof! Too slow though and honestly I've never lost a match featuring an Ike player. That's not to say he is bad though, just me and Pit are better <,<

Overall I'd say take whatever you learned from melee and completely start from scratch with this game. The mechanics have changed and so has the strategy of this game. Characters are a lot more "floaty" so it seems like a slower paced game to melee. Don't let that fool you, this is still the fast action chaos that has been Smash bros for so many years!

Oh and if you see a pink Pit online who doesn't spam Angel Rings and Wings of Icurous, you might as well just leave the game ;)
