Okay, so my plan is to get my first MP3 player this month for my birthday (June 29th), and the one I want, a Sony 8GB, only plays videos in MPEG-4 and H-264 (maybe wrong) formats. All of the videos that I want to put on it (including my Pound Puppies movie) are either in Intervideo format (my media player for full-scale videos), or WMV format.

Can anyone direct me to a program or a set on instructions on how to go about converting my videos to MPEG-4 or H-264 format (one of them is 4GB in size)?

Thanks.

Which of these is free and will let me convert as much video as I need? The Pound Puppies movie is over an hour long, and I have some other videos that go as long as 12 minutes.

Well, if you use a bit torrent like bitcomet and got to torrent sites like iso hunt. You can basically get them for free.

Try emule

is that a torrent program or a p2p program?

Either way, I can't find any one of those on a torrent. At least, not one that has an active seed ready.

Yes; I suck at doing searches. =(

Edit: I use Bitcomet. What do I do if the file has no seeds?

www.torrentz.com is a nice site to use.

Usually legit torrentz are on either mininova or piratebay.

As for the client that opens up.torrents, use utorrent.

Thanks for trying, but the DVDFab doesn't have what I need, and the other two are ALL trial versions; not one of them is the official version. The trials only allow 5 minutes of encoding, and I need way more than that.

Sorry that this has to be such a pain in the ass.

They should come with keygens or patches to make them the full versions. trust me they work.

I placed the patch file correctly for ImTOO, but it still is registered as a trial version and won't go longer than 5 minutes.

Yup, rub the keygen and add the key it provides you into the appropriate place!

restart your pc and be sure to read the instructions. if the instructions come up as an .nfo file right click it and select open with.. and select notepad and check the box at the bottom so it will always open with notepad. hope this helps.

Instructions:
1. Install the application
2. Copy the UILib71.dll file to the application folder ("C:\Program Files\ImTOO\Zune Video Converter 3\" by default)
3. Enjoy!

01.02.2007 by SubNET GROUP

Let's see...

1. Installed. Check.
2. Copied to C:/Program Files/ImTOO/Zune Video Converter 3. Check.
3. Enjoy. *bzzzt*

Now, if the file I copied it to is not the application folder, then I am screwed because this program does not HAVE an application folder. It's confusing as hell.

I'll try rebooting I guess, but I'm at a roadblock if that doesn't work.

Edit: Yup. Rebooting did nothing. I'm screwed.

Thanks for trying. I'll check this in the morning.

Emule is a p2p program. I tried Limewire but wasn't impressed. Truth is they are only as good as the number of people sharing. I have found stuff on emule that isn't available on LW and vice versa. Torrents are faster at downloading, but it is a pain to find stuff.

The peculiar thing is that I cannot actually tell what format my video files are in. Interstate Video is all they are listed under, yet just about every player on my PC will run them, and I downloaded most of them (knife runs, Halo 2 vids, etc).

I THINK most of them are in WMV or MPEG-2 format, but I'm not sure, and I don't know if those are supported by the MP3 player I'm getting.

The thread is kinda old, is this still of importance or is the problem solved already?

If it isn't solved I'd recommend the SUPER (http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/super.cfm)-converter

It's fast, it's easy-to-use, it's all-round, it's dependable and what's most important: it's 100% freeware

If this won't help please tell me the exact specs of your mp3-player

It's likely that you can find a specialized converter for your player at www.sony.com (http://www.sony.com), at least I found specialized converting software for my Trekstor IBeat Motion 4Gb on the producer's website

Oh yeah, and if someone's using ITunes and dislikes it because of some annoying features, get Floola (http://www.floola.com/modules/wiwimod/index.php?page=WiwiHome)

It's a free alternative to ITunes that can be installed on the IPod, allowing you to access to all your music at any PC.
Advantages of Floola:
- it's portable (you can install it on your IPod)
- you can search for and delete double songs
- add and extract songs
- import/export playlists
- directly download and convert videos from youtube to/on your IPod
- works with Mac, Windows and Linux
- and many more features

Problem is already solved; I was able to convert what I needed. Thanks for trying though.

Thought so

However, I'm a pro when it comes to finding useful software

I have 6Gb's of portable-progs on my USB-Stick alone XD

I think I'll roam around this threads a little more
