*sighs and thinks of where to start* This is a combination of a vent and advice. As some of us have noticed, there are a few furs running around getting slammed by more regular members.

Negative reputation is a good sign, not a sure sign, but a good sign that you are doing something very WRONG. Add the little red squares and the constant comments of "you don't make any sense" or "you're an idiot" or even "you're a fucking retard" and you have some clearly blatent signs that you are doing something very, very wrong.

I have a couple furs in mind, furballz and DRAKE, you are among the handful this is directed to. I don't want this to turn into a flame or a bashing, however tempting it may be.

Do you need to make sense? YES! This is a community, and if you've noticed community is closely related to communication. If you don't make sense, than your posting is absolutely pointless and rather frustrating and annoying. If people cannot understand you because of your writing style, you need to alter you're writing style. furballz, you have a ton of posts, but how many of those posts actually "say" something?

Please, please, please, put thought into your posts and threads. Both of you are guilty of this. Of course, every fur occasionally posts the "WTH?" posts, but almost all of your posts and threads are. An example of this, would be DRAKE's "THERAPY" thread and his purposely topic switch with the question "Which is more evil, George Bush or Hitler?" That question is just dumb, and what made it worse was you seemed serious about it using the "think hard now comment". Please think before you type.

Attitude checks. You guys are new, don't really know your way around and we don't know you. Hell, I haven't even been here that long, only a couple months. You shouldn't argue or fight with the mods, it's just stupid. They are the authority and carriers of the dreaded ban hammer. Being a member of this community isn't a right, you've been "accepted". Doesn't mean you have to stay, either. Also, DRAKE, if you are still on newb status then you shouldn't be posting yiffy art, especially in a non-yiffy section. If you can't wait for the yiff, than this may not be the place for you. Respect the rules and don't try to find loopholes.

Now, like I stated earlier, this isn't a flame or a newbie bash. Just wanted to give you guys some advice, before things were escalated into a mob with torches and pitchforks. You aren't off to a great start and at this rate, I honestly, don't see you staying for very long. People see those red squares when reading your posts and hardly take you seriously. Do all the posts need to be serious? No, we have a good sense of humor here most of the time. After the neg rep gets onto everyone nerves enough, people will begin ignoring you. Once they ignore you, none of your posts will show up for them, which basically means, you do not exist here on F2F. Surely, you do not want the constant flaming and ignoring?

It's advice, take it or leave it. Just in case you wanted to change your status, and be taken seriously as though you were an actual member of the community and not just a bunch of fools running around typing just to type.

I'd say the majority of newcomers are genuine furs looking to have fun on the forums, and it's our job to accomodate them. Some take it too far, as Wolfy has already eluded to. As long as we keep our ears pricked and our tails in the air, we'll be fine.

Thanks for this thread! Much needed material here. A guideline like this should be stickied so any future newbs can see it, and know where now to go wrong, and why acting poorly, and disregarding comprehension makes our people get irate so easy.

I feel a bit stupid having given the one guy posative rep, after the fact. He made one single post that I sort of agreed with, out of umpteen other posts that he made that made me want to tell him this is not the place for him.

You're right, rule 5 and 17 can be slammed into one, and I posted Rule 4 because I figured it'd be best for newcomers to introduce themselves formally. The problem is, of course, if everybody does that we'd have hundreds of unreplied threads. I did wonder that when I wrote them but left it in regardless.

Well, rule 4 just isn't my bag. I'm not one for introductions. More for showing up and just joining in. Get to know me/them through what I/they want to say, not some artificial intro thread that feels clumsy and awkward. Plus it's hard to be interesting on the spot based off nothing but being introduced. Really don't think it's the sort of thing that should be forced on people.

Words like "memorize" are spelt with a z in the US because that's the sound it makes. That's arguably the better way of spelling - phonetically, and easier to learn to read. (Not the case in all words.)

Also, I beleive a friend told me that American is a language now. Not sure how official it is or how correct they were. But the point is that it's different enough from English that they're calling it something separate now.

I actually knew the guy..............but, I didn't want to mention this at all, but his father was shot in a robbery ( no B.S ) it was about 3 weeks ago.

I am in no position to think negatively of you for thinking that way in this circumstance. In fact, it might be exactly what he needs.

My ex boyfriend had a night where he was threatening suicide, even to a point where he had the knife at his wrists, ready to cut at a moment's notice. I begged and pleaded for him to stop. I was literally terrified, but it wasn't until I threatened to leave that he dropped the knife and begged me to stay.

Sometimes people don't get the wake up call that they need until all their lines of support are gone. Perhaps this is what will finally put it all into perspective for him, and he can finally wake up, realize his wrongdoings, and go forward a rehabilitated and better person.

It is... difficult to feel any sort of sympathy for him, even now that the entirety of the circumstances are known, but I do still wish for him to get the help he needs. For you, for everyone he hurt with his words, but most importantly, for himself.
