Adam is a male Antarctic Skua. His wing span is a standard 4 feet and weights 4 pounds. He has red eyes and is all black and white but has a diamond sharp on his back. The diamond shape is gold in color and there is a red stripe going from one wing top to the other on the bottom. Adam’s his mouth is brown.
Adam was flying in the southern islands trying to find a nice spot to land. He spotted an area with no one around and headed straight for it. He looked around after landing seeing many creatures of all species fly around him. He never seen half of them before but he was not afraid. He knew one day other creatures would explore the world and each other. Adam was a lonely bird because his family was all dead and he was the last of his chain. He wondered each day what the next day would bring but would always do what he wanted to do. Adam continued to look as the sun was just rising to a new day.

Dev is a female dragon bat. Walking on all fours, she is about two and a half feet high and weighs around 50lbs. Her features are mostly bat-like, with large ears, brown fur, and a tan muzzle. Her wings are very small and genetically underdeveloped. They are about two feet across when fully spread. Her tail is long and thin, with small spikes running over the top. Two small horns adorn her head as well.
Dev was exploring the rocky islands on foot, climbing over rocks and swimming across channels. She has been traveling the world after leaving her home in the northern Americas. Having an emotional connection to the ocean, she simply started following the coast south to cooler climates. She found a less populated area to rest and sat down to watch he sea.

Adam was looking around and spotted something in the distance walking around the water. His eyes drew to it cause it was totally unique looking unlike himself. He flew over to it and landed next to it noticing it was looking out to the sea. He looked at the long ears first wondering what type of creature had them. The horns confused him more and the rest of its features were just throwing him off. Adam didn’t want to sound mean but had to ask:
You are one unique creature. Might I ask what you are? Sorry to stare or to bug you but those ears are totally unique looking and I wish I had a pair.

Dev jumped a bit at the presence of the bird. She took note of his interest in her ears and smiled.
Well, I'm a cross between two creatures. I'm not quite sure how it happened, all I know is that I am what I am. A blend of a bat and a dragon. Bat fur, ears and wings, but dragon horns and a tail! Heh, it's puzzles me sometimes... But I have a question for you as well. I've never seen such a bird like you before, especially this far south. What may I ask are you?
She ended her statement by tilting her head to left.

Adam noticed she jumped and was shocked she didn’t hear him coming but he was quit on the wind. It was a skill he had to get into the areas he was not support to be. Adam listened to the creature and noticed her explaining herself quite well. The problem was he never heard of any of these animals before, so took its word for it. Adam noticed her question and said with honesty:
Yes I understand in a way but I never heard of a bat or a dragon before. But I do accept you for what you are and the puzzle is quite interesting to me. Now for your question I am an Antarctic Skua and there aren’t many of my kind in these warmer places. We usually live in the really cold areas where others would freeze to death, but I’m an explorer so I’m here to see the world.

The young dragon bat's eyes glittered when she heard that his creature was also a traveler. She was fascinated by the fact that such a bird could live in the harsh conditions she described. She also heard hi say that he had never heard of a dragon or bat. She felt that a description was needed.
Well, a bat is a small mammal that can fly, the world's only flying mammal! And a dragon... well, I thought that they were extinct or did not exist at all. But they are large creatures that look like lizards with wings. I've been told that their breath is like fire too. But I wouldn't have expected a bird like you, who lives in the southern regions of the world, would ever meet either of those creatures. Now, you say you are a traveler. I am too! I've been exploring as much of the world as I can.

Adam listened as the creature started to talk. His focus was on its voice now telling that it was a female. He nodded at her explanations absorbing every juicy detail. He did not know if she was right or not but simply didn’t care. To him the creatures she was explaining sounded interesting. He heard her last comment and simply commented about it all:
So that means you can fly also right? Since your one side is a bat and bats can fly. So why were you hopping on the ground if you can fly? The world is much easier to explore in the air then on the ground don’t you agree? On a different note I would love to hear what you seen so far. For me it was the same old thing just different trees and rocks. I never had the chance yet to find anything intrusting.

Dev's expression hardened when he asked this question.
Well, I could fly if my wings were bigger.
She stretched them out so he could see.
See? They are really small. They aren't enough for flight. My bones aren't hollow like yours, so I weigh too much for these little things to lift me up. They help for gliding though. I can jump a little farther than usual if I stretch them out. But anyways, I'm fine with how I am. I'm sure that flying must be wonderful, but I'm happy on the ground. As for my travels, I have seen an awful lot. Fields of yellow grass that stretch on for miles, vast forests filled with many kind of trees and animals, high mountains covered in an eternal mist, and my favorite; warm beaches with white sands and crystal clear waters. It's been a wonderful journey for me so far...

Adam looked at her as she started to explain about her flying issues. He nodded and said back:
The size of the wings does not make the creature fly better it’s the determination of the owner. To me you have the right equipment but lack of trust in yourself to push to the limits. That being said I will not force you to fly cause I accept a person for who they are. The big thing is you’re still a very unique person to me and I love to hang out with you.
Adam continued to listen as she explained her journeys. They sounded wonderful and wished he seen any of that. He knew they probably came from two different angles of the world so he had a lot to see. He nodded and said:
All that sounded better then what I have seen. So might I ask where are you heading next? I really have no set destination in mind and want to know if you wanted a traveling partner. My name is Adam by the way and what might yours be?

She pondered the skua's comment about her flight. Maybe it was a lack of confidence... But the suggestion of a traveling partner over-rode the thought.
My name is Dev Halena. But you can just call me Dev. Nice to meet you Adam!
She bowed her head in a greeting.
As for myself, I don't have any destination in mind. I just started heading south. I suppose going along the coast would be my goal. I know it eventually begins to head north once more... As for a traveling partner, that would be wonderful! Oh, but, don't you have any friends or family that would get worried if you were gone for a long while?

Adam looked at her and said honestly:
That’s sounds good that you have no place in mind to rely head to. That being said I was never felt safe travailing along the coastline. Allot of creatures usually like eating a bird like me. Now that your with me things might change for me luck.
Adam heard her other comment and said:
Yes it is nice to meat you Dev and no all my family died long ago do to food starvation. It was one of the main reasons I decided it was time to go and explore.
Adam flapped his wings and lifted off the ground cause he was ready to go. He totally forgot what Dev told him. He looked down at her and said:
Are you coming Dev?

Ah, I see we have the same views on traveling alone. It's been a bit dangerous for me so far...
The noted the comment on his family.
Oh dear, I'm sorry I asked...
She looked up as he took flight, marveling at his wings.
Ah, of course I am coming, but I'll be walking. I don't mind if you fly.

Adam listened as she spoke and understood every moment. He snapped back to reality when he remembered what she said, “I can’t fly.” Adam was still not getting this threw his head and wanted to know why. He seen her wings and her body to his eyes was all there. Everything to Adam made him think what was the reason. He thought hard and knew it must be about confidence. He decided to give her something to work for and said:
Don’t worry about my past its not important. What is important now at this very moment.
Adam flew down and landed next to her again and said:
If you cant fly then I wont either. I know I can’t go far on foot normally but I will suffer for you. It would be rude of me to fly around as you’re on the ground. But in my heart I have a feeling you can fly just never had a reason to try again. It might be from your past or it might be no one cared about you, but one thing I will tell you now is this. Forget what the world tells you and try, try again. If I never tried to fly I would not be hear with you now.

Dev watched as the bird landed on the ground next to her. She noticed his small legs, obviously not designed for life on the ground.
Well, I don't really want you to suffer. I can see that you don't have the right kind of feet for a lot of walking....
She listened as he told her what it could take to make her fly. She sat down on her haunches and frowned, deep in thought. Maybe it was something wrong with her psyche. Her eyes flicked to her back and she flexed her small wings. Being a creature whose faith was in science, every piece of her brain told her that it was physically impossible for her to be able to fly. A small voice in the back of her mind came up and told her that if she tried, she could fly.
Hmm... perhaps you're right Adam... Maybe I can, I just haven't tried hard enough.
She looked around the area they were in and saw a high cliff facing the ocean. Her mind was fixed on that spot.
Adam, I'm going to try something... maybe it will work...
She bounded over the rocks up to the top of the cliff and stopped to look to the ocean. In her mind, she was picturing herself flying over the land an sea. She held this vision in her mind.

Adam nodded at her comment but it was the least he could do. He listened to her as she continued to talk and just smiled at her as she decided to try it again.
Adam watched her look over at a cliff and his heartbeat raced up. He knew now this was a two-way option and this was not a smart idea. He had a feeling it might fail fast so he had to get there before her. He was too late she was already there and Adam flew next to her and stopped on the ground. He noticed her focusing on something in her mind said clearly:
Don’t imagine it, just do it. On the count of 3 from me I want you to jump off with me. I need you to open your wings all the way and start moving them up and down at a steady beat. Don’t think about the beat just allow your heart beat to keep the tempo. Focus on my face and don’t try to fly away. I just want a simple hover and I believe in you. No matter what happens I will believe you can fly once you set your mind to it.
Adam started to count:
Ready one, two and three
Adam jumped of the cliff and was hoping she was following.

Dev nodded in agreement at Adam's advice. She tensed her muscles, but then relaxed, letting her mind wander freely, thinking of literally nothing but the sky. She stretched her wings as far as they could go, letting the fingers flex near the ends. She took a deep breath as Adam counted down, backing up a few steps from the cliff edge. As soon as she saw his wings begin to move, she tightly closed her eyes and leaped from the cliff.
Ah!
She cried out as she felt herself start to fall. Dev opened her eyes and saw the ocean beginning to close in on her. She re-adjusted herself in the air and concentrated on flapping her wings. She tried her best to get them to move like she had seen bats fly, hoping that it was the right flapping pattern. A strange calm swallowed her as she flapped her small wings, her eyes were still closed. When she could not feel her wings moving anymore, she opened her eyes slowly. Her feet were tucked under her belly, and the horizon lay in front of her. Dev was amazed. She couldn't really feel her wings moving, but when she turned her head, she could see that the tiny appendages were flapping in a semi-circular motion, keeping her aloft.
Oh man, is this really happening!? Adam, am I really flying?

Adam watched as she jumped of the cliff. He heard her cry out but as Adam just floated there to watch he noticed she was doing a good job. Then there was silence but the flapping of her wings. He watched as she hovered there perfectly and said to her question with dead honesty:
Yes you are flying like a pro. Like it was always meant to be. Now look at me and follow me, don’t think about it just do it. Your body will show you the way.
Adam started flying forward at a nice steady speed.

A wide grin spread across Dev's face as it dawned on her that she was actually being held up in the air through flight. Her tail wriggled as she squirmed with delight. She then worked her wings to power forward and followed Adam.
Oh boy, this is amazing! I can't believe I've been missing out on something so wonderful!
She watched the sea slowly move under her as she flew behind Adam.

Adam continued to fly forward and said clearly looking back for a second. Then back forward:
You’re looking good to me. Now lets do some basic maneuvers at first.
Adam did a casual turn to the left then straightened up. He then did another casual turn to the right and straightened up.
