I have nearly $300 towards my goal and I got to thinking. Is it worth it?

Maybe, if all you want to do is Garage Band or Photoshop. :E

Macs are good for creative stuff that includes photo editing. unfortunately, macs are not nearly as customizable as a pc, either in software or hardware. and remember, a pc is not necessarily windows, it can be Linux, which has about a million different interfaces and is extremely customizable. if your looking for gaming and things of that nature, id get a pc with windows. of course you could also get linux and run windoze on it (like bootcamp on a mac) but the actual winows os in windoze is somewhat unstable and easy to crash. (this will not effect the linux os though)

hope i was helpful,

Macs are overpriced proprietary pieces of shit in my opinion. PCs are better, cheaper, you get a choice of OS and you'll actually be able to find software for them. If you want to game on a mac you'll basically be limited to World of Warcrap and tic-tac-toe in Photoshop (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9vKPgR3mck&feature=related). Video editing and graphics works just fine on PC. No reason to get a Mac just for that. I use Photoshop and Vegas on a regular basis on mine. Most of the PC complaints I've heard from mac people stem from them just not knowing how to use one properly. They're not virus prone and they don't crash or anything. If yours does it's your own fault. Mine don't. The only reason they might get more viruses on PC is because they're dumb enough to open attachments on spam e-mail or something equally stupid. Guess what? Not even hackers want to write software for macs. If the virus wasn't incompatible they would have gotten it just as easy doing the same stupid shit on a mac too. What they actually need to do is learn to use a firewall and stop clicking on obviously fishy links instead of blaming it on PC. They like to pretend Mac doesn't have it's own problems (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6irAfABLsT0) and that it's the paragon of stability and function and not just something your girlfriend buys because it matches the decor.

By light side he means that it comes in your choice of 5000 neon colors, not that it's the good side. :-P

Or you could just do your video editing on a PC in the first place and you won't have to emulate one to run your games. Windows even comes with free video editing software if you don't want to buy one. I used to use Windows Movie Maker before I got Vegas. It's pretty basic, but it definitely gets the job done.
