PLEASE READ THIS AND PM ME IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS!

Before I begin: This is an open RP that I really hope will work. My character will be Sunshine, a yellow Canary bird, and she will stop in different countries on her way home to the Canary Islands. This is a great way to express your personal culture and location in the world, or represent a place you'd like to go. After awhile send Sunshine on to the next "contact" (person who would like to RP) and so the story will continue as Sunshine tries to find her way home.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunshine was trembling inside the dark metal cage in the bowels of the fishing vessel The Stalwart and she was refusing all the food the ugly bearded captain was shoving between the bars. How long had she been on the ship? A week? Maybe longer? She looked up at the ugly human, who had landed on her happy island by chance and laid traps, traps that she had never before encountered. In her young and foolish pride she had been enticed by the sweet fruits and nuts laid to tempt her. Now Sunshine was paying for it. The Captain was headed into the cold north and he wanted her bright yellow feathers to remind him of home and light, but his golden prize was miserable in her cage.

During one particularly bad storm the ship was rocking wildly, battered by the swelling wind and waves. With a crash Sunshine felt her cage tip and roll, hitting the opposite wall. Dizzy but luckily uninjured Sunshine quickly hopped through the now unhinged cage door and flew about the room chirping loudly. When one of the crewmen opened the door she took the opportunity and flew out of the captain's quarters, onto the deck and into the heart of the storm, deciding that she would die flying in the sky and at least she would be free. Again Sunshine lost all track of time as the wind carried and battered the poor little bird. It was impossible for her to fly in a straight path so she gave up completely and let the storm take her where it wished. Then, there was a light!

Oh if only I can reach it! Perhaps, perhaps I will survive! Sunshine flapped her wings, desperately fighting the shrieking wind to reach the comforting glow that seemed so far away. It seemed to take an eternity but she was making progress and finally landed on a window ledge. She beat her wings against the window and tapped loudly with her beak, praying that she would be heard over the noise of the storm and some kind soul would take her in.

a bird, he asked himself, tearing himself away from the train sim that was running on the computer. there were already 27 cats, two ferrets, a raccoon, a pair of red pandas, and a ring tailed pine marten variously under the bed and draped across miscellaneous bean bag chairs and other assorted furnishings. well as long as she doesn't land on the floor and keeps to the tops of book shelves she ought to be mostly ok.

the window had no way of oppening but the door with its heavy leather curtain was not far from the window, which he opened and held aside for her. the warmest place in the house, also safe from predation would probably be the top of the monitor.

he didn't have any birdseed or live worms, but he did crush some shredded wheat and put it in a dish there.

((OOC: Feel free to be a furry in this RP, I will be an animal that can speak, and while you can be fully human it's not necessary))

Gratefully the bright yellow bird flew into the already crowded room of other animals and the kind individual who had taken her in. Sunshine flew like a bolt of yellow lightning into the comforting warmth, chirping a little nervously and immediately flew to the top of the highest shelf, she hoped out of reach of the strange animals who looked so strange to her. She shook herself, water droplets flying off her feathers as she began to dry and fluff them with her beak, chirping now and then in gratitude. Slowly, hesitantly, she flew down to a slightly lower shelf, gradually moving towards the enticing crumbs that had been laid out for her. Experience had now taught her that food was not always a simple kind gift, so she would quickly hop away if her rescuer made any sudden motion.

Finally she managed to get the courage to take one of the larger crumbs and flew back to the safety of her shelf with it. It was delicious and Sunshine decided she like the stranger's food. This time she flew back, singing her thanks and picking more from the tray before settling herself on top of a warm square object where she looked at her helper sideways through a bright black eye, observing his actions. She wanted to communicate through something other than song, show him her thanks as well as her troubles more clearly, but she wasn't sure it was wise just yet to reveal that she knew speech, and she was certainly tired. After deciding it would wait Sunshine gave him one last chirp she tucked her head under a wing and fell fast asleep.

large furry green anthro cat (ooc: whatever made you think i was hooman?) exits train sim program and lets system go back to its usual screensaver of pictures from all over the internet from all over the world. finds back scratcher (setting on top of printer-plotter), checks thermostats to make sure it'll stay warm enough for everybody, and crawls off under blankets (and assorted nonanthro creatures sleeping on top of them) to sleep himself and await what the next days light might bring.
(ooc: yes he can mindspeak, almost as well as nearly all nonanthro creatures, are, i think, pretty well known to)

((OOC: Well I didn't really assume it, but there was no description of your appearance so I wanted to make sure I cleared it up if I hadn't before. >_< ))

Sunshine woke in the early morning feeling much refreshed from her sleep. After stretching her wings very carefully she flew in a wide circle around the room several times, seeing all the animals, most of them still asleep, as well as her rescuer. His fur was certainly an odd shade, but being bright yellow herself Sunshine really wasn't one to judge. Deciding against waking up everyone with a good morning song she decided to try and wait patiently. However, she was not a very patient individual and was soon flying from perch to perch around the room, hopping across the wrinkled blankets, perching on the feline's chest for a moment before flying back to the computer.

Looking out the window at the unfamiliar land she was worried about where she was and how very very far she was from home. After waiting till nearly eight o'clock Sunshine had enough of waiting. She perched on the chest of the cat again, fluffing up her feathers and trying to make herself feel bold and confident. "Hey, you going to wake up soon?" she asked, but instead of being confident her voice was soft and timid. She waited for a moment to see if the cat would start to wake up or not.

"fuff, fuff, ahhhchooo!" (feathers)

outside other birds were singing. several of the assorted small creatures had left their sleeping places and slipped out, muzzling the door curtain aside.

zymph awoke hungry as usual. the small yellow bird from the night before seemed to be on his chest. *and good morning to you too* he thought at her.

first breakfast and then i suppose head into town.

getting up carefully so as not to alarm the little yellow bird, he headed first to the small room with the mirrors and the ceramic deity. then started some water to boiling for the morning noodles and broth. and while that was getting going, set out a clean tray of small critter nibbles and a bowl of fresh water, just outside the door, like more or less always.

not neglecting his new visitor, set out another shallow dish of crushed shredded wheat and a small low rimmed glass of water.

by then the broth was boiling on the stove so added the pasta, mushrooms, and onion.

stirred the noodles so they wouldn't stick, turned off the stove and put a lid on the pot to let the heat of the burner and the pot finish the cooking.

outside the sun was already bright, and it looked to be a good day. the garden was all bright colors but look soon to need trimming.

set down in front of the system to check any thing that needed doing. apparently not, so then it was time to put on the music and eat.
