Ladd walked into the campus, it was just after winter break and he had all of his classes for the day. He decided to sit in the commons building, looking out the window close to the table where he sat. It was a normal day, sunny but cold here in Washington and he was waiting for his friend to arrive so they can chat about random things that happened to pop up.

The first day of classes were always hell on earth. It wasn't so much that they were difficult as they were boring, boring beyond belief. As such, after the first class, Spencer had developed a technique of appearing to listen but not really paying attention. When all the classes were over and he could finally find his way back to the commons, he spotted his friend, Ladd, over in his usual corner near the center of the bottom floor. Chuckling as he made his way down to the table, he managed to sneak up behind his friend.
Tapping the denim covered shoulder, he said, "Hey, Ladd. Difficult classes today?"

Turning to face his friend, Ladd smiled and replied "Nope, to me they were as easy as pie!" he was obviously in a good mood, his hair, long for him was pulled back into a tail and as always he wore his trademark denim jacket. He slowly got up and looked at Spencer.
"Care to go for a walk?" Ladd asked as he picked up his heavy bags.

"Sounds pretty good for me. Um, shall we take the back road around the school? I think I saw your parents drive up a minute ago, or at least your dad, and they looked pretty ticked off about something. Might be best to avoid them for a while if you can," Spencer said, his black backpack over one shoulder and his sweater hood up. As they walked towards the lower doors of the building, he said, "What got them so ticked of this time, you think?"

December 17th, 2008, 11:00 PM
Ladd looked shocked. "Sure lets go around the back, I'd hate to find out why dad is ticked off," Ladd said as he slowly walked out the back entrance to the commons building. He was sort of nervous as he looked around to make sure it was safe, he then turned to Spencer and asked "are you sure it was my father?"

"Pretty sure it was him, and your mother might have been in the front with him. Not sure, since the car was going by so quickly," Spencer said. As they got out of the commons and continued down past the library, he kept an eye out for Ladd's parents. "You still didn't tell me why they might be so ticked off at you, though," he said, fiddling with the umbrella that he kept in a pocket of his backpack.

"I am not sure myself It could be because I did not get up at once to look for their trice damned remote!" Ladd said bitterly, just then a tan Chevy Tahoe pulled into the parking lot, Ladd cringed and got ready to bolt as his dad got out of the vehicle.

Spencer was tempted to give Ladd a bit of a headsmack, like Gibbs did in NCIS, but when he saw the state that his friend's father was in, he shook his head and stilled himself. This was going to be bad enough for Ladd as it was.
As the older man walked out of the car, his arms were flailing in anger, and there was a red flush to his face. "So, what's my son doing here at college when he's supposed to be doing the chores we told him to do at home," he nearly yelled, wobbling slightly as he started to walk across the parking lot.
Looking at his friend, Spencer said, "Shall we get a bit of exercise? I doubt he could keep up if he ran."

Ladd cringed at the thought of running, but anything was better then verbal abuse, so he looked over to Spencer and said "Yes, lets!" Ladd sprinted as fast as he could down the stairs near the library building and took a sharp right, hoping that Spencer could keep up with him as he continued his mad dash.

Spencer was easily able to keep up with his friend, not having had any knee injuries in his past to slow him down. As they ran down the stairs away from the library, Spencer turned his head to see Ladd's father following them, albeit at a much reduced pace. When they rounded a corner, Spencer pulled out a rather large wooden club from his backpack, and as Ladd's father ran past it as well, he slammed the blunt object right into the kidneys of the older man, sending him into paroxysms of pain, followed by a quick smack to the head. "I think that should put him out for a while."

Ladd gasped as he watched his father go down, soon elation replaced shock as he walked over to Spencer, "Good job man, not bad at all!" Ladd chuckled as he turned and slowly walked away from his father's limp body, Ladd chuckled "Worse hangover ever!" Ladd laughed.

"Yeah, here's hoping that I got him hard enough to cause some memory loss about this little event too, hmm?" Spencer said as he reached down for the older guy and started dragging him. "Hey, go get some water from the fountain. We'll need to wake him up in a bit to make sure there's no concussion," he said, handing over an empty water bottle for Ladd to fill for that purpose.

December 18th, 2008, 11:34 AM
Ladd ran down to the nearest fountain and started to fill up the bottle, great, when he comes to he might just remember the incident and that cannot bode well for me. Ladd thought as he got back to spencer and handed him the water bottle without a word.

Reaching for the water bottle, Spencer opened it and set it on a shelf above Ladd's father's head. Gesturing for the two of them to head behind some of the bushes, he ran back there with a rock in his hand. "This should keep us a bit safer, if he wakes up this way," he said, tossing the rock perfectly against the open water bottle. It tipped and fell down, the water splashing out all over the older man's head.

as the water bottle tipped over and dumped onto the older man's face, he woke up with a start and looked around. he was shocked and, by the look on his face, angry, he then sighed and headed back to the Tahoe.
Ladd crawled out of the bushes and said to his friend, "I don't know about you but I am thirsty, lets go back to the commons so we can get some water,"

"Agreed. Running from a drunk can be some pretty thirsty work. You buying some water bottles, or do we plan on being misers and simply using the fountains?" Spencer asked as they walked back up the stairs, past the library. As luck had it, that was the time another group of classes let out, and the usual flood of students started sliding out the doors of the admin building.

"considering how I do not have any money, I think we should use the fountains," Ladd said as they got through the door, Ladd imediantly rushed fro the nearest fountain and started to drink as much water as possible.

Spencer couldn't help but shake his head a bit at the speed his friend displayed getting to the water fountain. Chuckling a bit and shaking his head, he walked up behind Ladd, and just when it seemed that he might be getting done, he gave his friend a bit of a shove into the stream of the water, knowing that Ladd's cat side would hate that. Chuckling a bit more, he moved to another fountain and took two short but fulfilling drinks, not about to get pranked like that.

"Oh, you had to pull that one, didn't you, Ladd," Spencer muttered to himself as he started chasing his friend down. When Ladd didn't have too much of a reason to run, he wasn't that hard to catch. And he didn't seem to have much of a reason this time, since he was able to catch up to his friend in a couple of seconds. Grabbing his arm to slow him down, Spencer chuckled a bit as they were stopped right outside the computer lab. "So, what to do with the rest of the day..."

Ladd chuckled as his friend asked the question, he had so many Ideas but he was not sure which one to act on. "Let's go to the computer lab so you can get some more inspiration for your drawings and I can get some more tunes for my Ocarina, after that I am not sure," Ladd said as he entered the computer lab and gave the attendent his Student ID, he then walked to the back of the computer lab and sat at the farthest corner of the lab away from the attendent.

Spencer nodded at the suggestion, doing the same when they reached the computer lab and going to the furthest row in the back. Of course, knowing what the inspiration for some of his drawings were, he checked to make sure the classroom behind that row was empty as well before logging into the site that he liked. As he did, picture after picture of anthropomorphic art began streaming across his screen.

Ladd looked over the shoulder of his friend, much like he did almost everyday. Leaving his Ocarina site on the screen of his computer he murmured in Spencer's ear, "Nice site, now I have something to look at besides my ocarina stuff," he then went over to his browser and called up a new tab and typed in the URL, looking at the same pictures that his friend just looked at.
A few hours later, Ladd closed the browser and headed out, he knew that the computer he was on automaticly deleted the history as soon as the browser was closed. As he left he saw a sight that he never thought he would see, a drunken anthro lion walking into the commons building Ladd stood there in shock waiting for Spencer to say the first thing.

Spencer shook his head a bit, glad that his friend understood about the anthro art and liked it a bit himself. It wasn't precisely something that was common around most people, and many saw it as perverted, most of the time. He was glad that Ladd didn't.
However, those thoughts were rather distracted when he looked out the windows of the computer lab and saw an anthro lion, a drunken one, running around. That was a sight that you'd see maybe once in a lifetime. Turning around, he said, "Ladd, did I just see a lion that looked about as drunk as your dad did?"

January 2nd, 2009, 11:38 AM
Ladd turned pale, Spencer was right, it was as drunk as his father, all of a sudden the Lion saw the two of them and made a Bee line towards them, slightly stumbling and swaying.
"What have you done to me BOY!" the Lion shouted in his father's voice, which made Ladd turn more pale, it was his father.

Spencer shook his head a bit, getting up and reaching into his backpack as the lion ran by him and then started yelling at Ladd. Pulling the club that he'd used before out of his backpack, he hesitated and then slid it back in, putting his hand on the shoulder of the lion. "Perhaps we should talk where you're not in danger of having the security people coming around to zap you with tazers?"

January 2nd, 2009, 11:51 AM
The drunken Lion looked at Spencer, finally realizing the danger of the situation as 3 campus safety officers came running into the computer lab, tazers drawn, Ladd, realizing this was his chance to get away, slowly backed away from the drunken lion.
"Freeze!" the campus safety shouted at the lion, who was inching towards Ladd, the lion ran to grab his son, only to get tazered, Ladd looked up to thank them, only to notice that they were anthro wolves, he then turned to Spencer, to see that he has transformed into a dragon. "What the heck!?!" Ladd almost screamed as he raised his hand, only to realize that it was a taloned hand.

Spencer hadn't been looking at anyone when the changes had happened. He was rather busy looking from the lion to a television outside the room. A news broadcast had just come up, and despite the fact that the television was on the other side of the commons, behind several walls and on a low volume, he was able to hear it. Apparently, there had been something that had entered the water supply, and it was changing the people that ingested it.
"Well, that explains these changes," the human turned anthro dragon muttered as he turned back to the anthros in the room. Seeing that he had ripped through most of his clothing, only randomly hanging rags preserving his modesty, he said, "Would anyone object to finding something to preserve what little dignity that we have left?"

Ladd, by now a full anthro owl, looked at spencer and said "no objections here!" and looked around, the college was a scene of pandamonium. every one, now some sort of anthro animal, was panicing, just then a young vixen walked up to the group, "Hey, guys!" said the vixen with the voice of one of Ladd's closest friends, and girl he secretly had a crush on. she was a vision of beauty, her fur was a dark brown and she had the most fluffy tail a vixen could have, "did you hear the news?" she asked as the security guards walked out of the room, dragging the limp lion with them.

Spencer nodded a couple of times, and shook his head a bit at the massive amounts of changes that had occurred with many of the students here at the college. "Yeah, I heard the news, surprisingly enough. Now, if you'll excuse me for a minute," he said, walking out of the room and into some kind of closet he'd seen some janitors put some more bulky clothing for when they had to do painting. When he came back out, it was a truly ridiculous sight. After all, a black anthro dragon, seven feet tall, would stretch out most clothes by a good bit, and there was nothing around that could cover his feet anymore.

Ladd looked Jess up and down, and headed for the same closet, some of these clothes would fit him and put on the pants, he would go shirtless because he did not want to injure his new found wings.
"Hey, Spencer, Do you think these wings will actually work if I were to try to fly?" Ladd asked as he stepped out of the closet and headed for the railing of the nearby balcony.

Spencer chuckled a bit at the feathery body that Ladd didn't seem to mind showing off, and then shrugged. "They might, but I personally wouldn't want to test them until you're at a safer place, Ladd." Cocking his head to the side, Spencer noticed something else. His friend's bit of excess weight was more or less gone, and he was quite a bit more fit. Looking down at himself, and taking stock of how his body felt through his clothes, he said, "Seems like whatever that thing in the water changed us was, it changed more than just our basic shape."

Ladd looked down and realized what he meant, he was fit, not just fit but slightly built. "your right, I need to try these out in a place where my life is not on the line, let's go outside and find a place where I could try these babies out!" Ladd chuckled as Jess ran into the closet and grabbed a shirt, because her's was slightly slipping off her shoulder.
Ladd slowly began to head towards the door of the commons building, dodging a group of panicking female felines, he wanted to try out his wings and he was going to try them out when he got the chance.

As a dragon, Spencer didn't need to weave through the panicking crowd as he had needed to before. Now, he just walked forward and his bulk and muscles allowed him a path straight through the panicking crowd. Thus far, from all that he could see, he was the only dragon on campus. Looking up at the door to the commons, he watched a badger coming into the place.
The badger looked at the backpack that Spencer was lugging around, and then at the denim shirt that Ladd was carrying and ran right over to them. "It seems like the change hasn't just affected the staff, you two."

"Professor!?" Ladd shouted with a note of questioning in his voice as he seen the badger. the badger slowly turned his head towards Ladd and nodded. Ladd gave a shocked woot as he realized this was his history teacher, and one of his favorite teachers on campus. "How far has this thing spread!?" Ladd questioned the teacher.
"As far as the news knows it is only this small area, but I am sure that by now the entire college is infected," the professor said, shaking his furry head, "be very careful out there, I heard that the whole area is under quarintine."
Ladd looked at Spencer, "This is bad, yet good as well, care to test out these wings?" Ladd asked as the professor interjected, "I am going to accomany you two, there might be some people on campus who are not infected yet."

The dragon thought for a moment, and then started pointed towards the campus library. "If anyone's not infected, it would be those over in the library. They can go for hours without eating or drinking anything over there, and if they've done any eating or drinking, its from their home, rather than here. Shall we check over there before we try anything more risky. Like trying to fly?" He added that last part with a glimpse over at Ladd, a small friendly warning that if there was a quarentine out there, it would more than likely have something to keep people from flying out.
"That sounds reasonable, Spencer. I'll check out the library, why don't the two of you see if you can get the students in here calmed down. You're taking this well enough, surprisingly." Looking from the two students, he added, "Or maybe not so surprisingly. I'll be back in a couple minutes, if all is well."

Ladd watched as the professor walked off towards the Library building. as the professor entered the building Ladd turned back towards the commons building and walked in, the noise has died down, that was a plus for him but people were still panicking. Ladd could swear that he heard a lot of people speaking about the quarintine, something about the Military being called out for this one and a declaration of national emergancy by the President.
Ladd turned to Spencer, "this does not sound good," Ladd said as Jess caught up with them and stood by Ladd's side silently, he could tell that she was just as scared as most of the student body but she did not want to show it, Ladd just sighed and took a seat near the stairs leading down into the panicking crowds below.

Spencer nodded a couple of times, and then smiled to himself. This was something that he'd almost wished would happen for quite some time, and now that it finally had, he'd make sure that he enjoyed himself to the fullest. Turning to Ladd, he said, "You think that you and Jess can get the people up here calmed down a bit, keep them running for the exits and to the edges of the quarantine? You know that's something that people stuck behind barriers inevitably do. They try to break them." He was leaning against the railing that overlooked the bottom floor of C building, watching the students turned furs mill about, some looking at the doors with contemplative looks.

Ladd and Jess nodded in harmony, Jess took the only door out on the top floor. Ladd stepped on to the rail and looked at Spencer, "Wish me luck!" he said as he jumped from the railings, spreading his wings to slow his fall. He landed in the middle of a group of panicking rodents that were near the far door of the bottom floor. "Everyone stay calm!" Ladd shouted as he blocked the exit. Everyone around him quieted down and looked in awe at him, appearantly he was the only avian on campus. The crowd stilled and silenced as ladd opened his beak to say "I know this is strange, but if you go out there all you will face is death, trust me I know, so let's stay calm and wait this out, eventually we will be free again."

The dragon slid out the front door of C building, looking around the immediate grounds for anybody that had been outside when the change had come into effect, and it was a good thing that he had. There was a fox and a sheep out on the sidewalks, and they were running towards their cars in the parking lots. "Oh, bad, bad, bad," Spencer muttered to himself. There was no way that he could reach them before they got into their cars if he ran, so...
Grunting to himself as he leapt upwards as hard as he could, he snapped his wings out and started flapping hard. In two short seconds, he reached both of them and grabbed them by the scruffs of their necks, pulling them back to the building. While they protested, they couldn't quite match the muscle mass the new dragon had.

The owl saw his friend drag in the fox and sheep and sighed, this was going to be hard to explain to the crowd who now started an uproar about how that was injustice. "Ladies and Gentlecreatures! My friend only did that to save them from a fate that in my opinion is the worse fate that a human or fur could suffer save torture and imprisonment! If you value your lives you will not leave this campus, at least until the military moves away!"
Ladd clicked his beak in frustration as the crowd grew louder after his speech, they were not listening and Ladd was getting ready to bash some heads in to prove a point, but that would only insite the crowd more, all of a sudden Professor Vanneson walked in, leading a group of furries to add to the crowd.

Several of the humans turned furs, and the few remaining humans in the building, tried to make a run for it when Professor Vanneson and the students with him entered the building. However, Spencer was having none of that, and stepped over to block the exit. Even the biggest stallion or draft horse or bear couldn't get past him. Dragons were that strong. "Seriously, people, get your brains around this concept. The military has a large quarantine force out there somewhere, and you've all seen enough movies to know what that means for anyone stupid enough to try and cross it. Now, personally, I think my body is fine without a ton of bullets filling the spaces between my internal organs, but if you think you need such decorations, go ahead. Just think a moment before you do."

Ladd chuckled as the crowd slowly backed away from the door, "Finally, they see reason!" Jess shouted as she stepped away from the door, only to see a few military officers barge in through the doors and look around, "If there are any humans left in the area we recommend you come with us, and don't touch the water, we found out there is no cure for this thing so we are evacuating all humans from the area and letting the infected live here until we can find a place for them in this world," a visored sargent said and the only two remaining humans, the librarians, walked forward, greatly relieved that they would be getting out.
"Well now what?" Ladd asked Spencer after the military people fled with the only humans left on campus.

Spencer watched the military start taking the humans out of the college, and looked around at the remaining students, all of whom looked desperate, ready to crack and do something insane. "Right now, I'd say that we need to get the rest of the people in here calmed down. People that are scared, who don't think that they have anything to lose, are the ones that will do the most crazy things," he said, remembering a scene from the old action movie 'Speed.'
Walking over to one of the wolves that had been a security guard, he asked, "Do you keep any kind of sedatives on campus? Not something that will be knocking anyone out, but something that might calm them down? If you do, better go and get it, and pass them around like candy."
The guard looked over the group of students and nodded. "I'll go get some. Think I'll take a couple for myself too, come to think of it," he muttered as he left.

Ladd snuck up behind the fox and decided to listen in on the conversation, hoping that spencer would not yell at him thus alerting the fox to his presence behind him.

Spencer was still on the top floor, but thanks to his greatly enhanced senses, he was able to hear the little mutterings into the walkie talkie downstairs. Muttering a few choice words under his breath in the language of his new species, he ran over to the entry of the building, and found both Professor Vanneson and another of the security guards. Stopping there and adjusting his clothes again, as they were still rather tight on him, he asked, "Do either of you know how to seal shut the doors here? Not just shut them, but seal them shut?"
Professor Vanneson shook his gray furred head, but the security guard nodded. "Why, though?"
"Because if you don't, we're gonna have a runner for the quarantine line before too long."

Ladd watched as the fox reached into the pants he was wearing and pulled out a book, it looked like a journal. Ladd looked over the shoulder of the fox as he opened it and noticed technical writings, particualarly chemistry style writings, with his knowledge in science he realized it was a viral cocktail that if transmitted through a liquid, say water, would slowly begin a transformation of some sort.
Ladd grabbed the guy's shoulder, he jumped and turned, putting the journal back where it was, "Oh, hello Mr. Owl, I did not see you there, when do you thing the quarintine will be lifted?" the fox asked, trying to keep his voice calm. "I think the quarintine will end soon, but I have a few questions I want to ask you," Ladd said as he dragged the fox up the stairs towards Spencer and the small group consisting of Mr. Vanneson and the remaining security guard. "Looks like we have a spy,"

The security guard was already walking off to a terminal elsewhere in the building to put it in a lockdown of sorts, so in a second, it was only the professor and Spencer there at the exit looking at the fox. Seeing the journal hanging out of the side pocket of the fox's pants, Spencer grabbed it, and then grabbed the fox. "You care to read it while I hold this guy still? We don't want to have someone running out that will endanger everyone else."
Professor Vanneson looked from the owl to the dragon and then shook his head a bit. "Perhaps you could tell me what is going on?" he asked.

Ladd shouted as he pinned the fox to the wall, somewhere behind him he heard Jess gasp, Ladd knew this was because she never seen lad act so aggressive.
"Tell us what you know, and you might have a chance to run," Ladd said in as threatening of a tone as his owl vocal cords were capible of, waiting for the fox to spill the beans.

The fox only chuckled a bit as he was pinned to the wall, shaking his head. "Are you kidding? I've got all sorts of friends on the outside, all sorts of people that are beyond the quarantine just waiting for me to come out to them. You can't do anything to me in here, you know that."
Spencer shook his head once, walking over to the fox. Removing him from Ladd's grip, he set him on his feet. Though the fox smiled at the dragon for a second, that smile died when he saw that the dragon was smiling back, in a very predatory way. "You may have friends on the outside, but, as you said, they are outside, while you're on the inside. There isn't all that much they can do from out there to keep you from extreme pain if you don't tell us what we wish to know," the dragon said in a very calm, very clear voice that left no doubt that he was completely serious.
