Ok first off the specs
Mainboard is a stck nmainboard have no clue what it is off the top of my head but it doesn't matter cuz come payday it will be replced by this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131318
I have 3 gigs ram in it now an that will be upgradede to 8 of the gstyle ram as soon as i get the chance
twin 1tb drives wester digigital 7200rpm sata
cpu is an amd athlon 64 X2 6000+(more than than enough for most gamin pcs)
video card is aaan XFX Nvidia 9800GTX+ 512mbDDR3 745mhz GPU (IIRC) and i think 2000mhz memory bus. damn thing is massive but is well worth the 180 bucks i paid for it. plus i got 20 bucks back on rebate.
Pioneer Blueray burner
PC Power and cooling 750watt PSU
case is an areocool M40 atx cube. sweet case but very cramped. it came with a 120mm fan in front and i put 3 80mm fans in the rear vents even came with a bracket in the motherbourd tray that comes out so you have a very easy time adding two fans in there. harddrive rack had to be relocated next to the PSU so the massive GPU card could fit and the PSU has been flipped upside down for cooling and space purposes the only availble place to tidily keep all the excess wires is under the blueray drive. My CPU fan is stock and is sufficiant. under load it can get up to 50c but usually sits around 35-40 with sl running. I want to get a cooler that is bigger and performs better than that. (and possibly looks cute) however betwwen the top rack and the cpu i got maybe 125mm space to work with witdh doenst look like it will be a huge problem. As lond as the heatsink sits 10mm or so above the cpu i can easilly fit 130mm in there with plenty to spare. this case cools really well but i do want a better cpu cooler. price isn't a huge deal but I'm on a budget since i am buying the new mainboard and got bills to pay. so any recomendations you can come up with would me apreciated.
and now for the pics hehe

I'll also be getting a secondlife snapshot later but i havn't had time.
Also for got to mention the monitor is a 22" samsung widescreen it says nothing about HD but this is easily comparable to my dads Samsung 40 1080P LCD. as far as picture clarity that is. samsun is by far the best LCD screen manufaturer out ther closely folowed by LG. both very good buys.(I'm mainly a home theater and car stereo nut but have airforce training in computers)

I've never seen someone with a case like that hehe..
Oh btw, If i were you 'd save money and just get 4 gigs of ram. There really isnt a huge performance increase past 4 gigs of ram anyways, you'd basicly be spending money just to say "Lookie what i have! =PP" If i were you i'd get a mobo that supports DDR3 and get 4 gigs of fast ddr3 =)
http://www.tomshardware.com/us/ has some good ram comparisons as well as other information :D
Newegg is one the the best places to buy hardware from, their customer service is /top notch/. Plus they have some great information about products from people buy it.

nothing wastefull about 8 gigs. that is unles you are running 32bit software. which I'm not.
not worried about fast memory really because nothing i use right now needs it. if anything DDR3 is overkill not the amount of memory. also I'll probably be geting a phenom quad core later on when AMD drops them down to 95w.
also atx cubes and microatx cube are very common among gamers because of porability. ever try lugging around a mid tower to lan parties? very awkward.alot of cubes come with handles that make them easy to carry. my old mid tower case had such a handle but it was almost the size of a full tower so i got tired of all the spave it took up. I got this ATX cube because it has more room to work with than microatx cubes. which are much more common. also people use these for midia pcs along with the even smaller Mini ITX cubes. after I'm satisfied with this one for a while I'm bulding a carpc with an intell atom dual core and a mini itx cube. Im just trying to find one with the 9800GPU chipset like the mac mini.

What i meant was 8 gigs isnt really utalized by any game. TH did a huge study on the effects of performance from 2 gigs, to 4 gigs, to 8 gigs. Their results was a huge performance increase from 2 to 4, and nothing noticable past 4 gigs. If your plan is to use it as a gaming rig i dont see the need for 8 gigs.. just get 4 gigs of fast ram! =P
As far as gaming pc's being portable.. my case weights 69lbs heh! I'd lug it to a lan party if there were any to go to. Weight doesnt matter to me. :strong:
I'd like to put a mini computer in our car.. It has a port in the trunk just for that reason. Audi's are hot 8)

Why wait till they are 95W?
I'd rather have two gigs of ddr3 then 4 gigs of say, ddr2 pc4000 =P
Oh i forgot to mention.. I've Never even seen a Cube case before lol.. none of my friends ever had one, i've never seen them at any computer store i've been in.

We got fuck'n he man here (applauds)
and IDK where you get those statistics. I'd really like to see the studies. sound like the studies they did on 32 bit software. further more. i don't remeber sayin i just use it for gaming. 90% of the time i'm running an insane amount of processes. hence why i said i was thinking about uping to a quad core (for obvious reasons.)
your argument reminds me of the one i had with somone once who said single cores process a single operation faster. this of course is bullshit. first off a good dual core processor has two CPUs in each core is like have the same number of single core CPUs. this is the only reason for more than one core. the atholon X2 acually performs server operations as fast if not faster than dual opterons. and the fun part is it uses less energy and takes up less space :) but i'm getting too far off track.
And on top of all that. I don't need faster ram. all i need is more ram. the amont of ram you have never effects performance. it's simply a rescorce your computer feeds off when it needs it. the only differances between DDr2 and DDR3 is the speed at which this data is tranfered. any performance gain you see will come from that. not the amount of ram.

I do believe they were using 32bit due to Most use 32
I guess if thats what you want in a CPU.. I dont think i've ever bought an intel cpu before heh! I'm also not worried about power consumption.
Well like i had said, i'd rather have faster ram then more.. slower ram.
Also, you seem to be comparing out "argument" to someone who is obviously wrong?
The only thing i really said was 4 gigs to 8 gigs of ram will have virtually no boost in performance while playing a graphicly instense game =P
Assuming the only thing you'd be running was the game itself.

Yeah i'm well aware of how many cores cpu's have =P I have a quad core after all.
