Just a heads up for those that do. I recently purchased thier tom clancy's rainbow 6 vegas 2 and installed it. blayed just fine. next startup the autopatch came up and idownoaded the update. when the update was done the game would no longer work. I was getting the "insert correct CD rom" message. so of coure i contacted Ubisoft tech support and left 10 messages and stil nobody has responded. upon reading the forums this has been an issue for alot of customers and it's appearing in more and more of thiier titles. It took me 4 hours of running through theier hap hazard scripting to figure it out. the copyright protection scripts are differant on the patch and they create a conflict with the DVD drive. the problem with it is if the drive is operating under SATA mode the protection scripts will find a compatability error. The solution is to reboot and enter the bios make sure IDE compatability is active then boot back into windows. when windows boots go to your device manager and under the sata controlers select the one your dvd drive operates from and click on the port tab associated with the drive. make sure the box that says bios preferance is checked then in the drop down menue selec pio mod. hit apply and reboot. this will make the dvd drive act as though it is an IDE drive. those of you who still use IDE drives won't have this issue and as for consols since console hardware doesn't vary this problem most likely cant happen.
I've been posting this in every tech section of every forum i'm on.Ubisoft sells alot of games and i think you need to know about the shitty quality of thier tech support.
