I haven't thought of an actual title for this story the Blue Moon is the title of the chapter so I thought I'd name it that for lack of better naming. I have only written a small portion but let me know if you like it.
Chapter 1
The Blue Moon
A lone tiger walked down the street the only light being expelled was that of the street lights. The streets were relatively empty considering it was high time for bar activity. She ambled into The Blue Moon, a tavern filled with others already on the path to drunkenness. She sat down on an empty stool at the bar, it creaked slightly under her weight and she wondered slightly if that was the reason it was vacant. Regardless, she stayed there waiting patiently for the bar tender to make his way over.
The tavern was somewhat of a dump compared to any one of the other bars in town, knowing this she sat there and looked at her surroundings. There was a raccoon sitting to her left in deep conversation with a horse and to her right was a tom cat staring right at her. “May I help you?” she asked him in German.
“Perhaps you can, Fraulin” he replied. She didn’t like the way his eyes were a deep black like a tunnel that has no end, or the way they seemed to try and bore into her and read her mind. No, something about this guy was wrong, not only his eyes, but the way he replied, the way he almost whispered it like it were some sort of threat.
“Well now, I won’t know until you ask it of me, now will I hun?” She replied in a playful kind of way, trying to mask the unease that she actually felt. She could feel that there was movement behind her, although it was subtle it was still threatening.
“If this is about a job,” she muttered so only he could hear, “then I’m going to need a drink before we go someplace more private to talk.”
“How very observant of you, I thought for sure I was going to have to spell things out for you.” He said in a voice that made the hairs on her back prickle.
“BARTENDER!” he yelled, making a come here gesture at the man who had looked up. The bartender made his way over to them quickly.
“Get the lady drink already” he said harshly. The bartender gave a quick bow in apologies and asked,
“What’ll you have miss?”
Something about the way he so obediently followed the tom cat’s orders made her realize that this was the owner of the bar and that it was probably not a good idea to have any kind of conversation about business here.
“Heineken please” she smiled at him, trying to wash away the harshness of the words that the tom cat had uttered.
