Hello fellow furry's, my AVG internet security is almost to run out of its licence >_< so... i wanted to know, does NOD32 antivirus also catch spyware? i know it seems like a stupid question.. but idk, i never had it.
or i've also seen that Bitdefender has high ratings, i think if NOD32 also catches spyware that ill go with that, but which would you choose?

Best result wins, please help me out =D

Thanks in advance, Myth

I recommend just downloading the free version of AVG. It deals with both viruses and spyware just as well as the pay-for version.

I actually recommend Avast! Free. It doesn't have a scheduler for virus scans, but it DOES have really good protection to keep them from getting installed in the first place.

As I never wanted to spent money on my anti-virus programs for there is enough freeware around I did look around and found several ratings, tests, and so on.

Here are the top three freeware anti-virus programs:

1) Avira AntiVir Personal Free Antivirus (http://www.free-av.de/en/download/download_servers.php)
2) Grisoft AVG Anti-Virus Free (http://free.avg.com/download?prd=afe)
3) Avast!Home Edition (http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html) (remember that you have to download the registration key there as well)

I've had AVG and was quite satisfied with it but after re-installing my OS it didn't work anymore and because I didn't want to spend hours on finding out why it didn't, I've tried Avast! and up until now no virus has come through. From my friends and several ratings I know that Avira is said to be the best of those three though.

Personally, to complete my protection, I'm using Spybot S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html) additionally. It's specialized against spyware of all sorts and protects against changes in the registry of your OS.

I use spysweeper with anti virus...it's very nice. It does a great job catching viruses and harmful stuff from entering my computer. It will even block websites that have malicious scripts.

I used to have avast! installed on all my computers at home. I still do on the computers that I don't use very often. AVG 8 looked nice but it had this link-scanning feature that made browsing the web an absolute pain.

I did, however, shell out good money for Norton Internet Security 2009. I have to say, it is money well-spent. I adore the new interface as well as its snappy response. It works quiely in the background and is a charm to use, espcially on resource-hungry Vista.

Still, for a free AV, I'd go with avast!.
