A Way Back (first motherly female)

[Trip The Husky]

The dawn was slowly arriving as the bright sun of the new day shined over the grassy hills of a peaceful field. But soon came a small form running and playing through the tall grass, laughing as he went before he tripping and tumbled to a stop "perfect morning" he yawned out as he gazed up at the new day's sky. It was a young human boy, no more then 12, simply playing as his short shaggy brown hair hung a little over his eyes.

"Vincent, Its time for breakfast" a woman's voice was suddenly heard calling out and the young boy popped his head up from the grass with a loud "ok mom." But as the boy got up his body locked up and his gazed stayed on his mother who stood in terror a few yards away and soon all he could see was darkness.

"What happened....mom are you.." Vincent soon was awake again as he sat up from a cold stone floor, the air damp and musty as well as very cold. The boy didn't know where he was and what was happening, all he could to was curl up and sob.

(((story is basic and fun. A human boy thrown into a world of only furs and tryes to find a way home as a female mother figure protects him like one of her own. But at the end doesn't want to let him go.)))

Lai gave a harsh sneeze as she walked through the factory. She decided to never fill in for her brother here again. All the speckles in the air were murder on her nose. Stupid, lazy ...
As the she-bear wandered out, something caught her attention from the corner of her eye. Something.... no, it sounded like someone was crying. She opened up the door she heard it behind, finding something rather small. A child had wandered in here? Heh, he must have pretended to be an adventurer or maybe a knight breaking through the castle walls. "Hey, little one," she said gently as she went over to him. "Are you alright? Are you lost? I can help you get out and I promise not to tell anyone." She figured if he was crying, there was no need to inform the bosses. He'd already learned his lesson.

He turned to see who it was as he still sobbed a little, but at the instant his eyes met hers he was up and pressing himself hard against the furthest wall "no back...don't eat me...pleases, mom help me" he said as he slowly slid to the nearest corner, it was easy to see he was trying to fight back histariea as he soon knelt down and burst out crying. He felt he was going to die, a human boy so far away from his home.

[Kansai Lai]

She was in shock when she saw him. She'd never seen anything like him. He was ... hairless. Didn't he freeze? But her initial disgust and fear was overridden when she heard him sobbing. She didn't think about how he could speak her language, but when she heard him call for his mother, her heart melted. "Hey, hey, hey, calm down. I'm not gonna eat you, I promise." She stayed where she was, trying to place her body language in the most harmless position possible. "How'd you get here? Are you lost? I'll help you find your mom."

He was shaking violently now out of fear as he continued to sit there, unable to figure out why this bear could talk. His vision soon started to blur and he suddenly leaned over and fell back down, it would see he had passed out from shock after all that had happened. His body soon started to get cold in that dark and damp room.

[Kansai Lai]

She gave a little sigh when he passed out. Lai removed the sweatshirt she'd been wearing and wrapped the little boy up in it before lifting him up in her arms. She didn't really have a choice, she's was going to bring him home with her. Once you got over the fact that he had no fur, he was just like any other kit and cub: When he got scared he cried for his mother.
The trip home was calm and uneventful. She had managed to get there without anyfur suspecting that she held an odd child. Once there, she wrapped him up in a proper blanket, put a kettle on the stove, and held him in her lap on the couch, keeping him nice and warm.

He was motionless as he lay there and the only noise he made was from his gentle heart beat. His shaggy hair messy and laying in his face like any young boy "M...ia" he suddenly whimpered out as he gave a shift and nuzzled into her, he was dreaming of playing with his dog. But he soon slowly opened his eyes as he woke up and gaze up at his company, and just like that they were in the same situation as before except for the fact he was using the wall and a chair as a defence.

[Kansai Lai]

She was hoping he would have calmed down by this time. So much for that. Lai just stayed where she was, showing she wasn't going to hurt him. She just looked at him, with a small soft smile. It was at that time that the kettle began to whistle. "Excuse me," she said to him, standing up and going to the kitchen. She came back a few minutes later with a small tea tray. The cups and dishes were covered in purple flower prints. "What do you like with your tea?" she asked him as though nothing were wrong. "I like lemon in mine." She poured a cup for herself and the boy, twisting a piece of lemon in hers.

As the small drifted to his his stomach suddenly gave a low grumble and he blushed and looked away. The sudden cut in tension caused him to calm down a little, but he was still scared by the animal that seemed to be treating him for some reason. "Ju...just cream in mine" he answered softly as his soft blue eyes gazed at her, but he soon slowly approached almost like she would attack any moment as he sat himself in a chair near her and the tea.

[Kansai Lai]

She put a bit of cream in and handed him his cup as politely as possible. She took her own, blowing away some of the steam before taking a sip. After about a moment of quiet sipping, she took the lid off one of the dishes on the tray, revealing chocolate chip cookies, nearly filling it to the brim. The bear took one for herself, nibbling on it. She was being very patient and letting the boy take his time in getting comfortable around her.

He didn't drink right away, simply mesmerized as he watched the animal move as well as any human. But with that he soon sipped slowly on his tea, not daring go near the cookies as he kept his eyes down "thank you" he said in almost a whisper as he soon finished and placed the cup down on the table, his body was still shaking a little in the unfamiliar space and with the strange creature he did not know.

[Kansai Lai]

"You're welcome," she cooed. "Are you feeling a little better now? You could have gotten a cold in that building." She glanced at him for a moment. She nudged the cookie dish towards him. "You're probably hungry. Help yourself. You can even finish them all." But she took one more for herself. Lai figured if she asked him where he came from or where his parents were, he'd begin to cry. So she'd wait until he was calm again.

He placed his head his his hands as he thought about what happened, knowing he must of been there for a few hours but.....where was he now, how did he get here, and what was this being in front of him. He soon stood and moved the chair back a little before sitting down again, pointing down at the floor "Earth....right?" he suddenly asked as he gazed back over to her, fearing she would say no.

[Kansai Lai]

"Yes, this is Earth," she answered. This was starting to freak her out a little. "Do all the people look like you where you're from?" Was this one of those cross-dimensional things she'd seen in the movies?

[Trip The Husky]

He nodded "yes..." he answered as he set up to answer another question "July 7, 1959?" he asked softly, feeling a little bit uneasy about what was going on right now.

[Kansai Lai]

Now it was becoming bizarre. "It is July 7, but the year is 4675 NE." Wormhole, time slip, he could have come through a variety of means... She set down her tea cup because she knew he would not react well to this news.

((I figured to make this after humans wipe themselves out, the animals evolved into sentience. And NE means 'New Era'. That alright with you?))

He stumbled a little, almost like being hit with an invisible force as he tried to comprehend what had happened "then.....then their all gone" he suddenly started to sob as he dropped to his knees and started to cry once again, feeling his heart start to break as he realized he was over 2000 years in the future."

[Kansai Lai]

Not caring if he freaked out again, Lai got down to the floor and pulled him into her arms. She held him tightly and stroked his hair, trying to comfort him. She couldn't possibly begin to imagine what this was like for him. And so young too...
"There, there. It'll be alright. We'll find a way to get you home." She didn't know if it was a lie or not, but it was all she could do for him right now.

[Trip The Husky]

He buried his face into her fur as he cried, wrapping his arms around her as his body shook with each new sob and whimper as he clung to her. He was hurting, simply needing someone right now more then anything. Someone kind and caring, but also, someone who could help him through this all.

[Kansai Lai]

Lai began to rock softly as she let him cry. He felt so small and defenseless, especially without his fur. She murmured little words of comfort, waiting for him to calm down.

It was almost 20 minutes before he stopped crying, but he still sobbed a little now and again before he pulled away to clean his face on his shirt. "I want to go home......mom, dad, Mia" he shook his head at that, not wanting to cry anymore before he soon leaned back against her and closed his eyes. She was the only one he knew in this world and he didnt want to give that up.

[Kansai Lai]

Lai could feel the wet spot through her shirt, but let it go. She patted his head again. "I know. I'll do all I can to help you get back... By the way. What's your name?" She thumbed away a bit of wetness from his cheek.

[Trip The Husky]

He sat up and looked at her, giving her the best smile he could at the moment "its Trip" he answered simply "and....what about you" he asked in a quiet voice as he soon moved a little bit away, feeling a little bit like he wasn't welcome.

[Kansai Lai]

"Mine's Lai. Pleasure to make your aquaintance." She was a little sad when he scooted off. She thought he'd finally gotten used to her by now.

[Trip The Husky]

"Is there anyone like me here......or is it all animals" he suddenly asked after a short silence, looking around the room and taking in all the details for the first time since he was here.

[Kansai Lai]

She figured he meant furs when he said animals. "Well I've never seen or even heard of someone like you. But don't let that upset you. Everything will be okay. I promise." The bear held out her pinky finger to make the pinky promise.
Her house was nothing special. It was small, perfect for housing just her and the occasional guest. Books on the bookshelves, a television set, kitchen, pictures and paintings along the wall...a picture of normalcy.

[Trip The Husky]

He reached out his hand and did the same as he gripped her pinky with his before letting go, moving back close to her before resting his head on her chest. His body soon went limp as he rested on her, an easy sign that he had fallen asleep once again.

[Kansai Lai]

She stayed like that for another moment. Then she stood up with him still in her arms. Lai cleaned the place up, turned off the lights and brought him with her to bed. As she laid him down beside her, she thought of how strange this seemed. And yet, it was no different from how any mother would treat her child. And that's just how she felt right now. With him safely in her arms, she nodded off, still trying to think of what to do for him

As he slept he nuzzled into her, feeling safe as he stayed close to her. As the night went on he dreamt of his home, his family, and everything that he remembered; only to slowly awake the next morning with the scent of her fur as he felt her still against him. "Mom" he said half awake as he brought his arms up to hug up against her as well, feeling he was still in his dream.

[Kansai Lai]

She murred for a moment, feeling him cling to her and hearing him speak. She held him still, forgetting that he was there, thinking it was a mass of pillows

[Trip The Husky]

He got up soon as he was fully awake and pulled away, feeling his stomach give a low grown once again. But he only crawled out of bed and went into the living room to sit on the couch, not sure she would like anyone in her kitchen or messing anything. As he sat there he thought about what had happened, feeling himself start to slip into another wave of sadness but he stopped himself "there has got to be a way home......maybe in the place I was found."

[Kansai Lai]

She woke up sometime later. But since Trip was no longer in bed, she thought it was a strange dream. So she walked out and jumped back slightly when she saw him again. It wasn't a dream. "Good morning," she said to him. "Have you had breakfast?" Perhaps he'd dug around while she slept on. She went into the kitchen to get her own food.

[Trip The Husky]

He stood and placed himself near the door frame, gazing in on her as she got herself something to eat "no, I didn't know if you would mind or not..." he looked away, feeling that even tho she was calm now, she might have some violent tendencies that he didn't know about. It was easy to see he was still a little scared of her.

[Kansai Lai]

She smiled. "Well from now on, if you're hungry, you can get whatever you'd like. So long as you stay away from the alcohol, you're far too young for that." She didn't have anything too good, especially not for a child. Lai managed to dig out some english muffins, sticking them into the toaster oven. She also pulled out some milk, butter, jelly, all her favorite breakfast things. "Just pretend this is your own home. Don't do anything here you wouldn't do there."

He nodded as he slowly walked into the kitchen and placed himself near the toaster oven, but soon looking around for something different and light on the stomach. He finally found a bowl and a box of a cereal he did not know, hoping it was made from the same things in his time as he poured himself a little bit and used the milk just the same. He stood off to the side of everything, keeping himself out of the way as he slowly ate his meal.

[Kansai Lai]

She smiled warmly as she saw him getting his own food. More and more, it felt as though she had her own child, even though she knew that couldn't be the case. But she never had any nieces or nephews and her only brother was older than she was. So it made her feel warm inside to take care of someone like this. Once her food was done, she brought it to the table and began eating.

[Trip The Husky]

He was making himself worried as he ate, thinking of his family and ways to get back. But he had to stop himself once again, knowing his mother told him that stressing out would cause something called an ulcer. He soon finished and place the bowl in the sink and started to clean it, feeling his home habits start to slip out as he dryed it and put it back up along with his spoon "thank you" he said softly as he placed himself in a nearby chair at the table, not wanting to be too far away from her.

[Kansai Lai]

"Wow," she said around a small mouthful. "You're a very polite young male." She soon finished up her own food, cleaning it all up. "Trip, I'm going to go wash up, then we'll go try to figure out how to get you back home." She tousled his hair and got up, heading to her bedroom to dress.

[Trip The Husky]

He followed her a little bit before she went into her bedroom, letting her go as he placed himself against the wall near the door. He was feeling even more lonely, almost like a lost puppy as he buried his face into his knees to wait for her.

[Kansai Lai]

She had taken note of him following her. It was so adorable. She made sure to dress as quickly as she could, just so he wouldn't be by his lonesome. She opened the door and headed for the bathroom. She kept the door open, brushing her headfur and cleaning her teeth. It took almost no time at all. "Alright. We can go now." She held out a paw for him to take.

He took her hand gently, letting himself be guided by her be he soon kept himself pressed against her a little bit with his face buried in her fur. "I'm scared" he said with a slight muffled tone, knowing they were just about to head into a world he did not know.

[Kansai Lai]

She paused right in front of her door. "The world really is a scary place isn't it?" She bent over and lifted him into her arms, carrying him instead. "If anyone asks, you have a birth defect and I recently adopted you. Okay?" Furs were sure to ask about his mostly hairless form. She opened up her door and stepped outside, locking it behind them.

[Trip The Husky]

He wrapped his arms gently around her neck as he buried his face into her fur, not wanting anyone to stop them and also not wanting to see anyone else. "Lets go, I'm ready" he said in almost a whisper as he nuzzled into her a little bit, but his body still shook a little even tho she was there.

[Kansai Lai]

Her brow furrowed, seeing him so scared. Lai gave him a little squeeze, reaffirming how she'd protect him and went off. There were a few stares and whispers as they traveled, but no one made mention of the pink, hairless boy in her arms. When she got to the factory, no one stopped her. They recognized her and figured she'd forgotten something. They also said nothing about the boy.
Soon they returned to the room she found him in. "Do you remember what happened that brought you here?" She still held him in her arms.

[Trip The Husky]

He let her go and moved a little bit till he was able to get onto his feet, moving away from her as he stood in the very spot that he had been before. "It was cold and I couldn't see anything.....I couldn't breath a..." his body suddenly jerked and he feel onto his knees, the boy shutting his eyes tight as he yelled out in pain. His body almost flickered and shimmered as he knelt there, he was going out of faze with the world that he was in almost like white noise on a tv. But just as quickly as it started it had stopped, the boy flopping down on his stomach with is face buried into the floor.

[Kansai Lai]

The bear almost dashed out to save him when he fell, but when he flickered she was rooted to the spot. Instinct and sense agreed to stay put. She was scared and knew he was about to leave. But when he didn't, Lai dashed out, scooping him into her arms. "Trip. Trip, are you alright?" Worry plagued her expression.

[Trip The Husky]

He had a cut along his cheek as he lay there in her arms almost lifeless, but soon he slowly opening his eyes as he reached up to touch her face not knowing what had happened "mom" he said as his blurred vision kept him thinking he was maybe back, but he soon was out like a light as a few more cuts soon started to bleed on random points on his body.

[Kansai Lai]

It broke her heart seeing him like this. He wanted so much to go home, but all it did was hurt him. She wanted to cry, but couldn't. She held him tightly in her arms as she wandered around the whole of the room. Nothing worked. She didn't so much as get light-headed as she tried to find a portal or something for him. With him still in her arms, she took the small boy to the first aid station. No one was there and she took advantage of the rubbing alcohol and bandages, cleaning his cuts.

Trip suddenly jerked awake a few almost twenty minutes, feeling his body burn and his head throb with pain as he sat up. "Montauk project....ow my head...what doest that mean" he said as he placed his head into his hands, not sure of what had happened in that room. He soon looked around a little distressed "Lai where are you" he asked out before he calmed down, seeing her there with him.

[Kansai Lai]

"I'm right here," she assured him, placing a paw gently on his hsoulder as she finished the last band-aid. "Montauk project? Where did you hear that?" She'd never heard of such a thing. Was it something from his time?

[Trip The Husky]

He leaned over and laid his head onto her shoulder, feeling almost defeated as he thought about what he had remembered "I don't know what it is, the army near where I live say its a big project......I'm sorry" he suddenly said as he looked up at her, feeling he was being more of a burden to her now that he got hurt.

[Kansai Lai]

"You lived near an army base?" Maybe whatever project they were doing affected the area and ended up sending him here. "It's alright," she said as she pulled Trip into her arms again. "I'll take care of you until we can figure out a way to get you back. Don't you worry."

[Trip The Husky]

He nuzzled into her neck a little more as she held him, feeling safer like then then anything else. Trip could smell her sweet scent and it reminded him of his mom, always so kind and caring towards him "can we look somewhere else. I don't want to be hurt in this place again." He soon pulled away a little bit as he gazed around the room, if he was like he his ears would of been pressed flat against his head and his tail between his legs.

[Kansai Lai]

"Well that's the problem...where do we look? I mean, for all we know, we could walk by it on the walk home. We'll find it, I know we will. But it'll probably be out of sheer luck." She hated telling him the truth, but...she couldn't tell him a fairy tale. She carried him in her arms again. "C'mon, let's go sit in the park and try to think this over." And she did just that, taking him away from that cold damp building to the lush green gardens of the city park. She set him down and sat under a large maple tree, letting the calm atmosphere to help her think.

[Trip The Husky]

He stayed under her arm as they at under the large maple tree, his body shaking out of fear as he watched the other furs pass by. "Is there anything like the army here....a military of some sort" he finally asked after a little bit of silence, he was clinging to her now by this time as a family of wolves had passed.

[Kansai Lai]

She shook her head softly. "No. We don't have anything bigger than a police force. Some countries don't get along with each other, but we all decided 'Live and let live.'" But that certainly didn't stop small crime from still being rampet.

[Trip The Husky]

"Then what about a science place....a lab" he questioned as he felt himself start to feel tired again, but the soreness I'm kept him awake. "Can we get something to eat, I'm a little hungry ma....Lai."

[Kansai Lai]

She caught the Freudian slip. "Trip, I have very limited resources. I work as a secretary, I don't know of any labs. But..." she stood up and brushed the grass from the seat of her pants. "I do know where we can get some food." She didn't carry him this time, merely holding the boy's hand as she led the way to a restaurant.

[Trip The Husky]

He held on loosely as he followed her, feeling a little bit embarrassed as his stomach grumbled a little bit. But he couldn't help feel that he was putting too much of a burden on her, after all, he was somewhat of a freeloader. Trip soon gazed upon the restaurant that she talked about and he smiled a little bit "sorry."

[Kansai Lai]

"For what?" She asked him sweetly as the hostess stared at the pair of them. Lai caught on to her look of disgust and responded in kind. "Don't you even start. My son has a genetic disorder that makes him hairless. Don't you dare discriminate against him." The squirrel looked at him and her before speaking.

"He doesn't look like a bear."

"I adopted him, of course. But that doesn't stop him from being my son." Eventually, Lai won out and they were shown their table. "Pick whatever you'd like," she said, passing him a menu

[Trip The Husky]

The sudden situation still didn't make him feel any better as he was handed the menu, his gaze staying down so he didn't look at her "I'm sorry" was all he could say as he thumbed through the menu looking for something he would like. He soon settled on a random item on the menu, feeling a little uneasy considering he didn't know if the animals his kind ate where like Lai in this time.

[Kansai Lai]

"Please don't apologize," she insisted softly. "It'll be like this for a while, but if I didn't think I could do it, I wouldn't." She reached across the table and lifted his chin up. "Cheer up. It'll all work out, I know it will. In the meantime, just relax and ... enjoy things." She didn't know if 'enjoy' was the right choice of words, but she didn't want to see him sad so much.

[Trip The Husky]

His eyes went wide as he looked away, wiping away some happy tears before he looked back over to her. Just then she had sounded like his mother, telling him everything was alright and this made him happy as he gave a small smile. "Thank you, ill try" he said softly in his usual meek voice as he handed her the menu.

[Kansai Lai]

"There now, much better," she smiled in return. She then called over their server, who took down their order and tried to remain focused on Lai. The food arrived a few minutes later, smelling wonderful. "Eat up. If you're still hungry afterwards, we can have some dessert." For a while she forgot that this was a lost little boy. She just had fun that she had a child to spoil.

He ate slowly as he kept his gaze down at the plate, the boy's manners past that of his age as he politely did everything from drink the water that he had been brought all the way to how he sat. But he soon finished and looked up to her with a little smile "that was great, thank you" he said in a little more cheerful tone.

[Kansai Lai]

It warmed her heart considerably, seeing him with a real smile. "You're very welcome. Would you like some dessert, too?" She herself was in the mood for something sweet.

[Trip The Husky]

He shook his head "I'm not a fan of sweets so I'm good" he said softly as he took a sip from his water, feeling a little at ease and looking it as his shoulders relaxed a little bit.

[Kansai Lai]

When the server returned to collect their dishes, Lai ordered a dessert for herself to go, along with the check. Both arrived at about the same time. After paying off the bill, she stood up, offering her paw to the small child again. "Ready to go back?" She wanted to refer to it as home, but knew she couldn't.

[Trip The Husky]

He gently took her hand as he stood, following her out and soon onto the sidewalk outside. The boy leaned into her side a little as they walked, letting his head rest against her arm as he held her hand.

[Kansai Lai]

She could not rid herself of her smile as they wandered down the streets. She no longer regretted filling in for her brother at the factory. She would not have found Trip if she hadn't. Lai shook her head before terrible thoughts of what would have happened if someone else found Trip popped in.

[Trip The Husky]

He rubbed her arm a little with his head as the scent of her fur filled his nose, but he was simply trying to keep his mind off his own troubled right now. "Is there anything fun to do at the house" he asked after a little bit of silence as he glance up at her, not knowing what to do over there besides sit around or sleep.

[Kansai Lai]

"Hmmm, well I should have some old toys from when I was a cub somewhere. But I also have a music player, books, and movies. I'm sure we'll find something entertaining for you." It wasn't too long before they got back home and she began to look for those toys

[Trip The Husky]

He helped her look as well, picking up a book as he knew that would help pass the time quicker and keep his thoughts in check. But as he picked a few more that looked interesting he came upon some sort of news clipping 'Big excavation' was the caption as he read it a little bit and almost froze "an ancient building marked Mont.....hey Lai, were is this" he said with great excitement as he showed her the clipping.

[Kansai Lai]

"Hm?" She leaned over to see the news clipping. "Oh that. That's about three towns over." She looked a little more sullen as she thought about it. "You think this might help you find a way home?" She doubted it and sincerely hoped it wouldn't work. The more time she spent with him, the more she wanted to keep him.

[Trip The Husky]

If he had animal ears they would of been pressed flat against his head as he looked over to her then to the clipping "yes, it might be. I want to find a way back home.....maybe the factory is the front door and this would be my back door out" He said softly as he pondered what was going on "will you help me get there Lai, please"

[Kansai Lai]

She didn't want him to go, but he looked so sad and it almost broke her heart. Seeing his face like that, she just couldn't refuse him. "Alright. Since I'm on vacation time, we'll head out tomorrow."

[Trip The Husky]

He cheered out as he leaped out at her, letting himself wrap his arms around her waist in a big and grateful hug "oh thank you, thank you Lai" he said joyfully, a little muffled by her chest tuff as he spoke. He was truly happy that she would help him.
